Marcus Martin Going Pro

USC center Marcus Martin announced via twitter that he would make himself available for the NFL Draft. Martin is a big loss because USC is thin at center. This might mean Max Tuerk goes back to center. Recruit Toa Lobendahn will also be a center.

  • weisberg

Wilcox will announce he will be leaving to Southern Cal tomorrow a gut feeling.

    • FightON

Pay attention. Multiple media outlets reported this hours ago.

      • weisberg

I have been walking in the snow,my opinion I do not need media outlets, Go CP

          • weisberg

            Lets make a deal.

      • Joe Blow

        Viceberg is touchy.

    • carter

If you have been watching the BYU/Washington game, there has been no Huskie defense.
Clancy did a better job this season under major duress, but Wilcox does not have his team prepared for the Woo’s of Brigham.

      • marvgoux1

Good thing the Huskies had the 100 yard kickoff return.

      • Walt Hazzard

Wah wah wah…Clancy is gone Kiffin is gone get over it did you watch the sucla game?

  • FightON

I ask Bucket aka Scott to make more posts, specifically one about Martin. Boom! It happens. Thanks Bucket/Scott!

    • weisberg

Third to fourth round draft choice not very quick.

      • Trogan Fan

        If that

3-4 times the amount of money any of the fucIa trolls make in 3 years.

Thanks Bucket aka Hey SUCLA aka ThaiMaid. You’re still short, fat, ugly, bald and terrible at your vocation. You should move to Moscow.

  • Ron Fleishman

3 1/2 hours after he sends out his tweet.. old news at this point Mr. Optimistic

The roster is extremely thin at center and right tackle. I bet Tuerk will be assigned to the position deemed most critical. The O-line is the biggest area of concern for 2014. It will be very interesting to learn who will be the new O-line coach.

  • 1ThaiMexCleansMyToilets1

The right decision. Fight On Marcus! Shut up SUCLA. Nobody cares what schizo Wolf thinks.

  • JJ4SC

He could use another year but good luck to him. Tuerk, Rodgers,Toa L. are all possibilities.

  • Marv Elapes

Best of luck to you on Sundays Marcus. Fight On!

  • Fred Sampson

Steve Sarkisian just received his biggest excuse for next season …lol !!

    • Ben Factor

Fred, I, too, have a bad feeling about Martin’s departure. I rather lose any of the eligibles than Martin.

      Hopefully, I’m being too half-empty.

  • Chris Rivera

Good luck in the Nfl , another great offensive linemen like Tyron Smith, Sam Baker, Charles Brown, Matt Kilil and his brother Ryan, all starters in the league.

    • LamontRaymond

More Trojans in the league. Another reason to choose SC. Thanks for your service, Marcus!

  • biso76

Maybe the best part of this is that it helps in selling D. Mama in that there will be a bit of shuffling and some open competition for various spots on the line.

Best of luck Marcus, Fight On.

  • B.Miller

Since the Offense scheme will be changing, and all of the OLineman USC is recruiting this year.. Someone should be able to step in and run the OLine .. However Martin will be a huge loss…

    • Ben Factor

Nice! You hit almost all important factors! But keep in mind that freshmen don’t often start on the OL. That dovetails nicely with why Martin will be a huge loss.

      • HeySuxx

Except at UCLA; and, don’t forget: UCLA 35 – succ 14.

        • Ben Factor

I’m reminded of Brian Kelly’s comment in 2011. Barkley and even Kiffin suggested that ND “quit” at the end of the game, and a reporter asked Kelly to comment. Kelly said: “They can say anything they want. They won.”

The learning curve in college football appears to be about 5 to 6 games as evidenced by how young, inexperienced teams play in the first half and then the second half of a season (witness Cody Kessler and USC first and second half of season). USC will have to play Viane Talamaivo, Toa Lobendahn, Damien Mama, Jordan Poland, and Chris Brown, or possibly Pat Allen, if they expect to replace Marcus Martin and Kevin Graf. I’m not sure which teams USC faces in the first half of 2014. But expect a big learning curve for the first half next year on the offensive line. At least one thing the new O line recruits have going for them is most are of size and weight not to have to be bulked up in the weight room for a year as Chad Wheeler had to do. It will be a great opportunity for young O line recruits who want to play and not red shirt or sit on the bench. And 2015 portends to be the start of a turnaround in number of scholarships so now is good time to attend USC.

  • Chris Rivera

    good luck to Martin
