Ed Orgeron Not Coming Back To USC As Assistant

ORGERON.ARIZONA.2

USC coach Steve Sarkisian said Ed Orgeron will not be returning as an assistant coach. After the Las Vegas Bowl, Sarkisian said he wanted to reach out and try to hire Orgeron back.

With all the NFL openings, Orgeron will probably end up as an assistant in pro football next season.

          • The Barkley situation was not the same. He was slated to go in the first round. Neither of the 3 who have declared early are expected to go in the first round. So less to lose, more to gain by staying for another year.
For every Barkley, there is also an Andrew Luck, who stayed for his RS junior year and was still the top draft pick.

          • Sark isn’t really recruiting current players who were so vocal for Coach O!!! Sark another Kiffin spoiled brat, and Haden is starting to realize he’s made a mistake. If Sark could he’d insist Buck Allen declare early.

    • I have to admit all of the early / mid season injuries would’ve freaked me out if I were playing.

What’s taking Lee so long to declare? His situation was the biggest no-brainer of them all.

  1. He probably doesn’t want to work for a guy who he thinks is an inferior coach. Honestly, USC is one of the top ten programs in the country, and is Sark one of the ten beast coaches in the country?

  2. Best to Coach O……a great Trojan. Haden totally blew this one. Oh well, we’ve lived through a string of mediocrity before ….. We’ll just have to fan up and tough out the coming seven win seasons.

  3. It makes sense to leave – to stay on after being the interim HC makes no sense – better for him better for USC. I’d think one of the lower tier conferences would have or shall offer him a HC job maybe higher but perhaps better for Ed if he does go to the NFL for a short stint and reflect on how to handle an interview in the future.

    • Leave with nothing on the table in a flood of emotion was a bad decision and makes perfect sense (unfortunately). Would it not be better to stay on staff THEN look and/or get an offer?

As an owner (HA, I wish), or GM, I would not hire CEO because of the way he did it to a school he proclaimed to love. That would NOT be the case if he was still on staff and looking. Just sayin’ …..

    • Obvious troll is obvious. Why are you so happy about a game you should of won? Protip: Get a life.

But, really, we do need a standing count of how many times UCLA injures starting QBs to win games. Matt Barkley. Keith Price. Logan Thomas. I mean, come on. At some point, it’s not luck. Lulz.

        • I used to joke that it seemed like every time UCLA played someone, a key player would get hurt. It’s football, so it happens. But, it’s been happening an awful lot…Maybe Zummy was mad that Jack got trucked?

          • I hadn’t given it much thought until you just mentioned all the QBs. It’d be interesting to see how many got a penalty, like today. Just shows the type of program Mora needs to use to TRY and make the big time. Of course, it will never happen.

      • In regards to the Barkley hit, I’d credit that one more to A. Walker than Barr.

Even Scott Wolf could’ve made that sack.

    • Congrats on cheating your way to victory in the prestigious Sun Bowl. Zummy is the perfect example of how far f ucla has come. Late hit, cheap shot, 15 yard penalty for taking the QB out. Hope Hundley comes back and Sark puts on the bounty. Classy that bRuin squad.

      • I’ll take that and up it to 15 sacks on hUndley. Obviously it would be stupid for BH to jump to the nfl, but hey, why not, just to see another bRuin his life!

    • I was about to tell you: UCLA’s bowl game was today.

Brett Hundley (he’s the QB for UCLA) rushed for over 100 yards and made comments that he’s likely headed to the NFL.

Enough about UCLA, since you obviously spend more time on USC boards. What are USC’s chances of landing Juju?

  4. Awwh.. is that in his plans? But guess what…
HE WILL STILL END UP AS AN ASSISTANT!
