During Washington’s announcement today on Chris Petersen’s coaching staff, defensive line coach Tosh Lupoi was reassigned to another position within the athletic dept. USC coincidentally still needs a defensive line coach, which shows how important Lupoi was to Steve Sarkisian.
The only real news is the hiring of Drevno, who worked for the San Francisco 49ers, Stanford and the University of San Diego under Jim Harbaugh. So does this qualify as one of the best staffs in America?
Still to be hired: Defensive line. Here’s the full release:
Justin Wilcox formally severed ties with Washington today and as soon as all legal issues are formalized, USC hopes to announce his hiring, perhaps even tonight.
Steve Sarkisian had reached an agreement with an NFL offensive line coach before the end of the pro season. The Atlanta Falcons dismissed former Fresno State coach Pat Hill today. Could Hill be Sarkisian’s hire?
CBS Sports.com published a couple mock drafts today and Marqise Lee is listed as the 18th pick in one and 24th in the other. Click here to view the full draft.
With NFL openings abound it will be interesting to see where Clancy Pendergast ends up as an assistant coach. Pendergast contacted a couple NFL teams the week after Lane Kiffin got fired, which was probably smart on his part.
Here is my Top 25 ballot for the Associated Press college basketball poll:
Is USC the only coaching staff in America with two assistant coaches (Clay Helton, Marques Tuiasosopo) who are undefeated (1-0) as head coaches?
Maybe Steve Sarkisian is right when he said USC would have one of the best coaching staffs in America. It’s certainly the best staff that formerly coached at Washington.
