Pete Carroll is an outstanding coach, but no legend. A legend would not have left SC high and dry days before signing day with NCAA sanctions coming.
His win/loss record speaks for itself. Will any coach ever win 34 straight games again?
Again, great coach but for me a “legend” is more than just wins/ losses. “Legend ” is not a word I throw around lightly
You’re still here? Do you need a tissue for those sniffles? Man up. Pete was a no name coach who brought a program back to glory. You can be upset that he jumped but the magic was gone, the culture was shifting. Numerous people on the inside and outside were reporting this. Sanctions or no sanctions, Carroll was leaving. Give him credit that he has helped out USC alums in the NFL and still has close ties to the school. Stop sniffling.
In his own special way…Goat Boy was also legendary.

When ESPN began it’s live broadcast of the game right after the IA – LSU game the camera panned the south main entrance to the Rose Bowl and on the right upper side was a large piece of canvas with John McKay clearly affixed to it.
For we grads of 30+ years or more he will always be the finest coach USC has ever had – just a great man and a leader.

Stanford looked clueless once their basic offense schemes flat lined at the end of the 1st qtr. – Shaw made no adjustments for the 2nd half – MI St. made big plays when it mattered – that final play by Stanford showed no planning for being behind < 2 mins. to go down over 4 points – poor planning by Stanford OCC – better team won – MI St..
What happened to the days where we’d play a Big 10 opponent? Pre sanction days?
