Quick USC Schedule Impressions

KESSLER.ARIZONASteve Sarkisian probably won’t be thrilled playing at Stanford so early in the season (Sept. 6). And there is the usual tough close to the season against UCLA and Notre Dame.

But the part that will be overlooked and could be especially dangerous are the back-to-back road games at Utah (Oct. 25) and Washington State (Nov. 1).  Especially when injuries might take a toll on a limited roster.

For the fans, Larry Scott showed his disdain with another Thursday night home game at the Coliseum against Cal on Nov. 13.

  1. Yes, scheduling a Thursday night game at the Coliseum is showing disdain for those who have tickets to the game. The game experience is much more of a hassle. Everything is for television these days. The game experience has deteriorated substantially over the years.

    • Interesting that there was a piece last week about how the NFL was having trouble selling out games, when the Pac 12 and ESPN are much more anti-fan with Thursday and Friday night games, limited on campus parking and no tailgating.

    • We don’t care about you SUCLA. But you definitely care about us. We can tell how much you respect us. Wait, let me guess. You hate your envy of us so much that you hide behind the sticks and stones of abcesses. Or is it obsesses?

      • Since we will be playing them in back to back games, the extra day will be a big help…

    • Remember when you promised not to post when you’ve got nothing? Just delete your post and walk away.

      • TF – stop replying to them – stop – no more replies to the bel-airians – they need you to feed their insanity – look at their addiction here – all Trojans don’t reply

  2. I sure hope I can sell my Cal game tix. There’s no way I’m going to another weeknight game. Driving to the Coliseum and parking (even with a Committee parking pass) for the Arizona game sucked rocks!!!

    • I had to take the whole day off. For those who work and do go it is a burden, and for those who can’t go, it is a precious home game lost.

          • Aw. You mad, bro? You follow me – which you still haven’t explained. You also haven’t explained why you believe I am Trojan Fan (which I’m not).

How about you knock off your childish behavior and idiotic accusations? I’ll be here every single day. I’ll be calling you out whenever I feel like it.

P.S. I don’t follow you. Because I’m not an obsessive.

            Bye, Felicia.

  3. This is all fine and good, but the PAC decided that the two best teams in the league, UCLA and Stanford, should do battle on the last Friday in November in Pasadena. That’s not just tough on UCLA and Stanford fans, but on all fans of the game – I mean, who WON’T be tuned in to watch the two best teams in the league go at it then?

    • We shall see, we shall see.

If it happens like you predict then it will be UCLA’s first nationally-watched game ever. Mazel tov! UCLA football would finally somewhat relevant outside of the Los Angeles area.

      • that’s cute. I’m sure nobody will watch UCLA/Texas earlier in the year – they’ll be much more interested in seeing the mighty Trogans tackle Fresno and BC. LOL. If it weren’t for NBC’s love affair with ND’s silly bandwagon fan base, nobody would see SC next year at all!

          • There is a difference between rank and ranked. Fresno will be rank. And Texas in Dallas is a tougher game then ND at home.

7 win Sark may move the needle to 8 during the regular season.

          • And Mora will get LESSA this year. Poor Brett. No NC, No Heisman, No Pac 12 Champ., a complete DISASTER

          • Mr. Lowe…you may need a rest today. You are off your came this afternoon. Relax and come back with something more clever…you’re repeating yourself.

          • that’s called Pulling a PIous Passer.

only Hundely has guts, has led multiple 4th Qtr comebacks, something Pious NEVER DID IN FOUR YEARS.

            buh-bam.

          • USC scheduling Notre Dame every year is much tougher than UCLA scheduling a quality opponent (who has been struggling lately) like Texas every so often. To be fair, maybe Texas was on top when UCLA scheduled them.

Still, Notre Dame has a much better history of winning than the non-conferences most sign. What non-conference rivalry against a good opponent does UCLA sign every year? Zip.

          • Nebraska, Texas, Tennessee, and even ND have all been in UCLAs recent past. Cupcakes. I don’t take anything away from the ND matchup, but sc has gone a long way away from playing tough OOC games outside of that.

          • Actually, FightOn, both schools have always scheduled fairly tough OOC games, unlike the SEC. In fact, only USC, UCLA and ND have never scheduled an FCS school.

OOC schedules are done way in advance and sometimes what looked to be a tough matchup is not a difficult as originally thought. BC is a good example of that.

        • Then you would have a chance for 10 wins against the service academies, UNLV, SDSU, CSUN, Long Beach St, etc…

          • That’s funny, BYU and Notre Dame seem to be able to schedule games with teams in conferences.

        • Seriously? Why is excellence in water polo a point to troll? Just because your 500 pounds can’t even float doesn’t mean the athletes in water polo deserve less respect.

          • Have you ever even watched a SC water polo game in your entire life? I’m glad we are great in water polo but nobody cares about minor sports.

      • If that was the case, how did you end up at the Las Vegas Bowl? The nation watches USC for five minutes and changes the channel when it realizes that it isn’t South Carolina…

    • Very true that ucla can be one of the best teams heading into that game. But the bigger test for ucla is when they play at arizona state. Todd Graham is a really good coach and a loss could derail UCLA season. Ucla still hasnt beaten oregon or stanford yet. But with mora and hundley back anything is possible.

  4. In looking at the U$C schedule it’s very possible the best U$C can do is 4-8 with wins over Fresno State, Boston College, Colorado, and Cal. Sorry trOJans, it must suck to be you.

  5. Larry Scott needs to upgrade his resume and move on before he destroys the PAC12. His network suks, the worst television production there is.

  6. The Thursday game is a great excuse to take a sick/ vacation day and enjoy some of the museums and other DTLA attractions…

    • A cool $50 the Rose Bowl charged for the NC game Monday evening for Brookside parking.

  7. It is an opportunity to get an early season victory against Stanford. No one looks at a schedule with fear or disdain like SW does.

  8. I thought there were to be no more games against the other division teams to prevent what happened in the Pac-12 Bowl game two years ago when UCLA played Stanford back-to-back for the Pac-12 Championship?

This was in the press as it was deemed unfair to have two teams play one week only to possibly face off the following week – I know this was supposed to not happen again.

Look I realize I am assuming both will be in the Pac-12 CG – I realize that, but were USC to play OR the same scenario or play Stanford

  9. There is a very good reason Scott chose to have UCLA play Stanford n Friday 28th November 2014 rather than Saturday 29th November 2014 – it’s called:

    1. tv ratings – everyone will be watching USC – Notre Dame nationally if only to hoot and scream their anger at one – the other – or both – man nothing beats hate – ask the Yankees nothing!

    2. to get anyone to show up for that game (Stanford-UCLA) – good luck! If that game had gone ahead on Saturday, as bad as getting there would be on Friday evening fergeddabout it if they stayed with Saturday – as beautiful as the Rose Bowl is, and it truly is, there is something cold, clammy and creepy about that pitch black parking area and no lights within almost a full mile at night. The place looks like a glorified detention center i.e Drancy – velodrome stadium just outside Paris where the French officials working with the Nazis imprisoned Jews prior to the joy ride to Auchwitz-Birkenau.

Scott dd UCLA and Stanford a huge favor – now the problem for UCLA is getting fans there that night – this is why use of the Rose Bowl only works when you have a decent opponent – it’s too blasted far from the campus but hey the brainiacs let the kiddies vote it down way back in 1966 where Drake Track Field sits today.

    • Lots of discussion and information about UCLA, but zip on Succ. What’s up with that?

  10. Stanford at Palo Alto in the second game. There will be no let-up during the August practices for Troy since they will have to be in mid-season form to have a chance. That could prove to be an advantage if they can win that game

SUCLA and then ND in even years is always a challenge.

No SC- Oregon again. That was developing into the biggest rivalry game in the Pac-12

And did somebody mention national ratings?– In the L.A. Times this morning SUCLA;s game against I-dont-recall in the Sun Bowl did not even get 1 million viewers nationally. Or perhaps that was a Times’ error. Or perhaps not.

    • It’s not the winning that that sets Succ apart, it’s Succ’s synthetic reputation. The Ripple and puke colors and albino nag that scream Montebello chic, really big houses with zero furniture and six year old Bimmer’s on month to month leases equipped with two Succ Alumni license plate holders. BFD, nothing much but loud obnoxious bravado, cheap Rose and white patent leather shoes. Bugger on Tommy.

        • You’re right – I just saw it on Yahoo – guy needs to grow up and stay away from bimbos – cost him 2 years in Siberia (Bowling Green-KY) and worse he’s now in the ACC instead of the SEC.

          • I’ve slowed down. It’s been really funny to jab ’em and see how dumb they are to respond. I think I got 75 responses to jabbing ’em on Jack Wang’s site. Hilarious. A bunch of clowns that think they are in our “league”. Ha.

          • See what I mean with the hall monitor still ‘in bound’.

“Hey you rubbed your wet hands instead of blotting them – I’m gonna’ tell!”
