Lane Kiffin Statement

Here’s Lane Kiffin on getting hired at Alabama:  “We want to thank the University of Alabama and Coach Saban for this tremendous opportunity, and we feel humbled and honored to be a part of the Crimson Tide family. I was able to meet some of the great players and the great people in the organization, and I’m very excited to start working with them.

“We’ve seen the passion and support of the Alabama fans firsthand, and when that’s combined with the storied history and tradition of the program, this is a very special place to coach.’’

  1. just like the Mythical Forrest Gump, Kiff (the real life Forrest) keeps stumbling inexplicably into high profile/historic situations!!! and now he’s at Alabama just like Forrest!!!

    does Kiff play ping pong??

and that’s all i have to say about that.

          • JB…you were working the Bruin BB game hard last night…thought you didn’t like BB…but maybe it’s just SC basketball you don’t like…small wonder. Good game…bad outcome.

Not sure why Wolfie is upset about the Kiffin hire. Would think Saban knows what he is doing…and it may provide some insight to Lane on how to run a program like a grownup. I am sure he knows football…just always seemed immature in his handling of things.

  2. Despite what Petros was saying yesterday, I had a feeling LK was going to get hired once he interviewed. It appears the one thing he does right is an interview. Shows you how far a little hot air and daddy’s friends will get you in life.

  3. Congrats to Kiffin.

Saban will provide the tutelage for Kiffin to become a successful coach. He was given way too much and way too soon but with Saban’s guidance, he will learn to coach properly and successfully

And AD Gargamel’s lot in life remains unchanged.

  4. Wolf was probably skipping all day, since Kiffin is in the news again. This is what? four consecutive post about Kiffin. Come on Wolf, he’s not the USC coach anymore. You”re having a Kiffin relapse/

  5. I wonder why Wolf didn’t use the Elmer Fudd photo for this story?

Oh yeah…. I forgot — it’s a high profile gig that’s competing for another national title!

Remember this response from the Q&A today?

“Do you think Saban is serious about LK or do you think it’s more of a nice gesture to help generate some positive pub so LK can get more interest for other jobs?”

    “probably a gesture” by scwolf1 12:37 PM

    How does crow taste?

  6. Does this mean that Kiffin is the successor to Nick Saban? Hahaha, the SEC must be scratching their heads, go get em, Lane!!!

    • Lane Kiffin will lead Bama to a title as HC before Sark leads USC to a title as HC. Save a link. It will all happen sooner than anyone imagines.

  7. Am I the only one who hates these canned statements?
What they really are thinking, not stating:

Criminal Lawyer: “The evidence will show that my client did not mean to kill those 14 nuns, only 13.”

Kiffin: “O.K., O.K., I was a knucklehead at SC, Oakland, Tennessee, and then for the second time at SC. And now I have Alabama to add to my resume”

  8. Circle 10/25 on your calendars… Neyland Stadium should give Kiffin an interesting welcome.

  9. Some “gesture” Wolfie, Saban actually hiring Kiffin to be his OC. You shouldn’t make immature statements when you know nothing of what is really going on. You got all the stupid Wah Wahs, like troy22, all excited that Kiffin was just lucky to get some pub. Any fool knew Kiffin was a lock for the ‘Bama gig. Why would Kiffin interview for a turndown with a good friend of his? You should learn to think these things out more clearly.

    • You moron rah rahs still won’t admit he was the worst thing to happen to USC football since Paul Hackett. Kiffin is the poster boy for cronyism with, as you put it so deliciously, “a super powerful friend” giving him yet another undeserved job at high six or seven figures. I love Joseph B. Lowe rationalizing it all. Classic rah rah thinking.

      • The post was about Wolfie’s failure to understand Kiffin was a shoe-in the job, moron. Wolfie thought Kiffin got the interview from Saban just as a “gesture”. Could you be more stupid?

        • No the post shows what a brainless rah rah you are carrying your eternal flame for the coach that took our preseason #1 team and coached it down to 7-6 and a humiliating loss in the Sun Bowl to mighty Georgia Tech.

          • Since I think Kiffin’s a pile, that makes you one of the dumbest people alive. You have mush for brains.

  10. Can you just imagine the combination of two yes two sourpusses at Bama….. Yes they’re two, two, two mints in one!

  11. LK is a very good coach and recruiter;he will also learn about being a head coach from a prime source;happy for him and his family;this is a plus for BAMA fans.

  12. Q: Who reminded Matt Leinart that 82 Sluggo Win was an available audible?
    A: Lane F. Kiffin.
