Javorius Allen, Josh Shaw Attend Team Meeting

Tailback Javorius Allen and cornerback Josh Shaw attended a team meeting today at USC, which would make one assume they will come back next season. Quarterback Max Wittek, who said he might transfer, also attended the meeting.

  1. Need one infer that each has firmly decided? I wouldn’t draw that conclusion. In fact, ambivalence seems like a good reason to ATTEND the team meeting–maybe get some clarity. We’ll see…

    • Nubsie…again I agree with you…You don’t need cancers…you need MORE Special Admits!!!!

  2. Keeping Josh Shaw is key. He really developed into a solid corner for the team last year. Allen would be nice too, but Shaw is more important, Allen’s MVP notwithstanding.

    • I guess Shaw is staying, and that’s important. I don’t think he will want to play CB in his pre-draft year, because he’s more naturally an NFL safety. Nor should he be asked to play CB.

As to J. Allen, is he really less important? He was the team’s MVP. You’re thinking of the three RBs who would supplant Allen if he left. Yes, they are all talented, very talented. Remember, though, they were all enrolled last year. Who has shown the durability to play, ney, star, in 9 consecutive games? Only one–J. Allen. I don’t take that for granted. It’s a really big deal, especially at RB.

      • You could also make a case that he was durable enough to end the season because he didn’t see the light of day to begin the season. Yes, Tre Madden has gotten hurt a few different times now, but Justin Davis was only 17 when the season began. You can excuse him for getting nicked up.

Again, I’m not saying J. Allen isn’t important. He could be a Heisman candidate for all I know. I’m just saying that Shaw plays a position of much greater need. His return (and Pullard) is the more important return IMHO.

  3. Wittek doesn’t have a good body of work if he wants to make the NFL jump. He can’t always rely on physicals.

  4. Buck was NEVER leaving.. Kid graduates in a year.. that was something the media and whatever Scott Wolf is stirred up..
Problem is Scott wolf doesn’t investigate to get stories..
