USC Staff Went To St. Louis

Taking a page out of the Pete Carroll playbook, Steve Sarkisian took assistants Justin Wilcox, Tee Martin and Keith Heyward To St. Louis on Thursday to meet with the parents of Serra wide receiver Adoree Jackson. Florida and Tennessee also visited with Jackson.

What’s not to like? I mean did Kiffin ever do such? No – why? Because he hadn’t a clue on how to strategize and then execute – kind of like his three stints as HC – this is great!

Well, to be fair, Kiffin did go the extra mile to recruit Silas Redd away from Penn State, if I remember correctly.

      • Saul Goodman

How so (don’t know the backstory)?

        • rusoviet

Does it matter? Whatever the ‘wannabe’ socialist-leninist WEB Dubois replies with ‘is ‘hearsay’…worse it’s ‘bel-airian’ or ‘maybe’ from Lane Kiffin himself – be aka WEB Dubois – Lane Kiffinskoa – I think ‘dis marshmallow back end be juz’ dat’!

Dude, leave the ebonics to the brothers.

        • WEB_Dupree

If you google the story, you can still find the old articles online (maybe even from Wolf), but from what I remember, Kiffin and some assistant coaches flew out to visit Redd and give him (and his family?) a Powerpoint presentation about why he should come to USC. Fletcher Jones Mercedes loaned them a private plane for the trip. Everybody was pretty jazzed about it at the time; this was before all the fans turned on Kiffin.

By the way, I have no idea what the good comrade is saying in response to my post.

Just chasing the rats out of the barn

Nah my brother – what that clown did was do what any 2-bit coach would – that’s his job ‘hermano’ – Kiffin used what USC ‘is’ just like he did as he alienated every coach in CIF with his ‘patented’ “This is Lane Kiffin – Head Coach of USC…who am I talking to?”

Take your ‘blank’ USC and crawl back to the mark Wahlberg doppleganger rathole jo’ momma’

cuz you dun’ got yer’ backside in a fist runna’ my bra’!

      • Ben Factor

Plus, Lane recruited OK or better, maybe much better. That was not his problem.

        • WEB_Dupree

Not back then, at any rate. It’s easy to forget now that people were once cautiously optimistic about Kiffin. Remember the “Lane F-ing Kiffin, Bro” T-shirts? After that 2011 season, it seemed like the crazy Kiffin experiment just might work. It’s too bad it didn’t work out; it would have been fun to see USC succeed with Lane Kiffin, of all people, in charge.

Good insight – the problem with Kiffin is that on his 3rd stint as a HC he was still acting like a first year HC – remember what Coach O did as soon as he took over Sunday morning (in the early a.m.) he told all the coaching staff to take a day off.

That’s the most glaring characteristic about Kiffin – he had no confidence, he refused to delegate any decision making – he refused to listen to anything that he hadn’t thought up – he was arrogant to recruits and HS coaches – sum – he hadn’t learned a thing while w. PC nor with OAK and TN.

His parents live in St. Louis?

    • rusoviet

No but the ‘playah’ be there fool…..

  • timtrojan

Scotty you really are on top of meeting that took place yesterday. Guess your still on that newspaper timeline. Welcome to 2014 when reporting is about having contacts and good sources and not about sitting in the back of press conference and thinking of snarky comments.

It is amazing at how much effort college coaches must put in to recruit high school teenagers and impress their parents. I can see why many coaches get tired of it after a while.

  • Trogan Fan

News flash… sc has now stopped recruiting AJ. Sorry Trogans.

  • rusoviet

Hey let’s all await the new DC that bel-air tech signs to replace Spanos….

    Maybe Coach O?

He’s available and Mark Wahlberg’s doppleganger always said nice things about Ed.

  • rusoviet

Coach O for ucla my sucla!
