USC Defensive Coordinator Justin Wilcox On Having Fun

Justin Wilcox on whether the Trojans will “have fun” like the team did last season under Ed Orgeron: “There’s Disneyland fun and the fun of working your butt off and reaping the rewards.”

  1. How fun was losing to Notre Dame and UCLA? This idea that the team had “fun” under Coach O and didn’t have “fun” under Lane Kiffin is so far from the truth.

Clancy Pendergast was the defensive coordinator all year. If they had “fun” on defense, it was under him. If the defense had “fun” under Coach O, then you ask COACH SARK!

Do I have to do everything around here for you Wolfie?

    • For once, you and I agree.

I heard a quote from Saban (probably he heard it elsewhere, too), but I liked it: There are two kinds of pain–the pain of discipline and the pain of failure.

There are a lot more than two kinds of pain, but his basic point has been made by many accomplished people, including Vince Lombardi.

Most of these USC players want to play in the NFL. That will only happen one way. Period.

    • Yet they sit at 22 on espn while the bRuins are all the way down at 27 with 3 more recruits. But I, for one, don’t read into recruiting rankings. Too much credit is given for size of class and not quality.

  2. Giving it all you’ve got on the field and leaving it all out there is more rewarding than In N Out and cookies. However, both have their place and players do play better when they are, in the words of Pete Carroll, “all geeked up.”

  3. Thanks, Coach! I’m going to use that line the next time my kids beg me to go to Disneyland.

  4. Wonder how much fun Wilcox was having getting destroyed continually by both Furd and Ducks?
