Former USC linebackers coach Mike Ekeler interviewed for a position at Georgia according to the Macon Telegraph and might be a candidate at UCLA. So far, some of the highest-profile members of last year’s staff (Clancy Pendergast, John Baxter) are still looking for jobs.

Adoree Jackson Daily Update
LSU and Florida met with Adoree Jackson today at Serra High School. He will probably visit USC over the weekend.
Adoree Jackson, Damien Mama Named Parade All-Americans
USC targets Adoree Jackson and Damien Mama were named Parade All-Americans. USC commits Bryce Dixon and Viane Talamaivao of (Centennial) were honorable mention selections.
Steroid Drum Major Backstory
During today’s media tour of Heritage Hall, USC senior associate athletic director Mark Jackson said the idea of the drum major statue was the brainchild of lacrosse coach Lindsey Munday. Among the ideas Jackson said were considered was suspending the drum major from the ceiling.
Other figures suggested included Tommy Trojan. One reason the drum major was selected was he would not offend any sport that was not included if, say, a football player was the center piece. I offered that reason last week.
Still, with USC’s rich athletic tradition, a statue of two or three athletes seems more appropriate than a band figure. I’d favor something with Stan Smith, Parry O’Brien, Buster Crabbe, Rebecca Soni and Cheryl Miller if you wanted to be inclusive.

USC Morning Buzz: Pete Carroll And Signing Day
Pete Carroll was known for being a master recruiter but as Signing Day approached assistant coaches used to always talk about how panicky he became over the thought the Trojans would run out of scholarships if too many prospects wanted to commit.
That’s hardly the image he projected in public as it always seemed he was a swashbuckler making calls to recruits through the night as high school players prepared to fax their letter of intents.
“I tell Pete every year it always works out but he always thinks we will have more commitments than scholarships,” an assistant was fond of saying.
Imagine if Carroll did this during the 15-scholarship classes?
