Tosh Lupoi Cleared, Which Helps Steve Sarkisian

The NCAA notified Washington it closed its investigation into allegations against Tosh Lupoi and does not believe “further action is warranted,” according to the Seattle Times.

The end result is that this relieves Steve Sarkisian of potential sanctions if Lupoi was found guilty. The NCAA did say it could re-open the case if additional information comes out.

    • I love Sark almost as much as you do. But I am sure your man-crush on Petey runs much deeper.

        • the public school should be on probation for 20 years for what woodie did back in the day.

Far cry from one student’s parents striking up a deal with some con men, some 130 miles from the USC campus.

          • Didn’t somebody get banned for suggesting you self-inflict that?

Don’t get too carried away with all of this.

          • One trick ponies always trying to dredge up Sam Gilbert while at the same time celebrating the life of the ultimate Trojan Marv Goux…who was a beloved assistant coach that was delivering cash to the players under both McKay and Robinson. You love to go back 40 and 50 years…and yet fail to acknowledge that SC is the 2nd most sanctioned program in NCAA history, right behind SMU that got the death penalty.

Yeah, keep bringing up the past. SC’s past stinks…and as long as you have the remnants of that dirty past with Garrett, JK McKay and Haden, you may want to can your righteous indignation.

          • I think the SC fans that do it were too young to remember the devastating 3 year probation for our football program in 1982 and reaction from our then-President James Zumberge that resulted in the good but less than great 1980s and 1990s era for SC football. Both schools have their pasts and it’s best to deal in recent history.

          • It’s all dirty, moron. It’s college football.

            DeShaun Foster’s SUV.

Cade McNown’s partying with mobsters under federal invesitgation.

            Skip Hicks’ handicapped stickers.

            Ricky Manning’s numerous assaults.

In 1956: “allegations of illegal payments made by two booster clubs associated with UCLA, the Bruin Bench and the Young Men’s Club of Westwood, were published in Los Angeles newspapers. UCLA refused for ten weeks to allow PCC officials to proceed in their investigation. Finally, UCLA admitted that, “all members of the football coaching staff had, for several years, known of the unsanctioned payments to student athletes and had cooperated with the booster club members or officers, who actually administered the program by actually referring student athletes to them for such aid.”

          • Foster was suspended over the SUV. Petey still wanted to play McKnight.

McNown…allegations? Aren’t you the one that just argued that allegations don’t prove anything?

And it was several players with phony handicapped placards. Hardly the same as “pay for play” under Goux.

And now you want to go back to the 50’s?

Perhaps you should read my basic point that SC fans shouldn’t act all self-righteous regarding Sam Gilbert at the same time you had Marv Goux in the henhouse. Time to grow up and get over it.

          • The rah rahs never bother to do their homework. Half the Pac was on probation including us in the late 1950s. Again, jumping in the DeLorean and going back in time is not advised unless you really know your history of both schools as well as the conference.
            .

          • You’re a joke. Filthy Woodie and Nellie Belle on the floor. Sam Gilbert providing cash….PER your OWN players!

  1. Looks like this false claim cost Lupoi a job at USC.

Scottie: so what was the real story here? The High School coach claimed he received money from Lopoi – do some investigative reporting.

    • HA! Unless Gargamel reads it on Twitter, the baby journalist isn’t investigating anything.

        • Not sure what the Seattle media came up with, but everyone here has concluded that you’re an idiot.

          • You mean all of your sock puppets Sniffer/Golly-Nerd, TrojanFan5.9/ Wisdom/TrojanFamily that meet at Losers Anonymous you dork?

    • Just because it wasn’t proven doesn’t mean it isn’t true. We are stuck with “allegedly” and no more. Not guilty is not the same as innocent.

      • What ever happened to “innocent until proven guilty?”. If I recall correctly, the NCAA didn’t prove anything.

        • And that is all I said. They couldn’t prove it. Doesn’t make it not true…or true for that matter. It was a he said, he said. At the end of the day, you are still probably better off without Lupoi. He sold out Cal at the last minute, leaving on bad terms. Any baggage or perception of baggage is problematic for SC at this time.

          • But the coach who claimed there were payoffs apparently couldn’t produce any receipts or bank records. That’s what sunk us with Reggie.

      • In this country, individuals are not required to prove their innocence. Regardless of whether he was innocent or there was an absence of guilt, Lupoi lost an opportunity to work at USC.

      • Such weak solipism.

I can’t prove that you molest goats. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t true!

This is the logic you learned at UCLA? If you even went there? If I were u, I would ask for a refund.

      • Legally not guilty and innocent are the same. Now my gut feeling is the accusations are true but just couldn’t be proved, but the fact remains he lost out on a very good job because of an allegation.

And we are better off without him.
