USC Morning Buzz: Andy Enfield Discusses Future

As recently as two weeks ago, Andy Enfield said he did not want to discuss the future out of respect to this year’s team. A few more losses apparently changed his mind.

“We have size, we have length, we have athleticism, we have some shooting and we have an elite point guard (coming in),” Enfield said. “We have a top-50 player from two years ago, Katin Reinhardt (Nevada-Las Vegas) that can shoot the ball from deep.”

Will that translate to a lot more wins? Full story here

  1. Dandy Andy, “build it (SC basketball) and they will come.”

There is no reason why the Trojans cannot become a basketball power.

    • Agree, but we need to hire an AD who will pay top dollar for a high profile coach who will be able to recruit a top 10 class and immediately become a factor in the NCAA instead of settling for Jerry Seinfeld. Inexpolicably we always go on the cheap while nobodies like Louisville, Arizona and Memphis became national powers by opening their pocket books and bringing in high profile coaches who immediately turned things around. The AD should be able to get the millionaire alums like Ed Roski to donate $5 million a year to the basketball coach salary fund.

  2. Please football come back. College basketball with the one and done players is like watching Australian rugby. Scotty is bored and his usual crap work which is usually entertaining is unreadable.

    • HAWR-HAWR!!!

A trOXan complaining about “one and done” players, as if THAT were the trOXans problem!!

That’s like a morbidly obese woman saying she won’t lose weight because all the men would treat her like a sexx object!!!

Some schools are DESTINED to be one-dimensional, Duke, Rudys, Kentucky, Southern cal….precious few others like UCLA and Stanford, truly excel in multiple sports!!!

And let me tell you Dummies: it is…GLORIOUS!!!

      • UCLA definition of excelling is Sun Bowl.

        1.
Begin with your hands in the air
above you. Wiggle your fingers (yes, its a part of it). Then slightly bend
forward, towards the ground, with your hands in front of you facing down.

        2.
Then ever so slowly begin to raise
your hands towards the sky while similtaneously shouting “Aaaaaaah” (I
don’t really know how to describe this part).

        3.
Once your arms are straight above
you, quickly bring your hands down in front of your chest and clap loudly 8
        times.

        4.
Now this is where it gets tricky.
Pump your right fist in the air once and at the same time yell
very loudly “U“. Clap three times.

        5.
Now pump your left fist in the air
once and at the same time yell “C“. Clap three times.

        6.
Pump your right fist again with a
loud shout of “L“. Clap three times.

        7.
And now pump your left fist in the
air and shout “A“. Clap three times.

        8.
Actually this is where it gets
tricky. The following is a little quicker. It’s basically pumping your fist in
the air like above, just without the clapping. Pump your right fist with a “U“,
pump your left fist with a “C“, pump your right with an “L“, and
pump your left fist with an “A“.

        9.
Then pump your right fist high in
the air three times and yell “Fight!” for each pump.

        Yay Eight Clap!!(that’s not
a part of it). This is done very rapidly so its a little hard to keep up the
first time, but that’s part of the fun in learning it.

        • Sun Bowl 2012: Mighty SUCC and Kiffy’s Sombrero vs Lowly Georgia Tech, a sub .500 team and traditional ACC conf. FB power. After 3 solid stinking hours of listening to “Conquest,” or “SUCC fights on,” chorus, Mighty SUCC loses to GT 21 – 7. But, SUCC doesn’t care because the team should have been playing in the RB, if it wasn’t for NCAA’s vendetta of hate and envy against SUCC.

          • Here’s some legend for you.

USC has won an amazing 24 Rose Bowls. The little gutties, which usually lose whenever they infrequently get into the game, have only won a measly five times. Geez, are you guys TRYING to be bad?

          • Yes this is how we play when presented with worse sanctions since SMU. This would be considered a banner year at 8 clap U. Your window is closed get ready for the boot.

      • Mayo, DeRozan….yeah USC players are never one and done and then onto the NBA.
I didn’t think it was possible, but you know less about basketball than you do about football.

      • Most men’s national championships overall- USC by far. Nobody else even close. Yes, it is glorious to be so great in multiple sports!

  3. Andy Enfield shouldn’t have to explain himself , Pat Harden should be explaining to the media why he allowed former Basketball coach Kevin O’Neil to run that program into the ground , and bring in recruits that most PAC 12 Schools did not want . Head Coaches take the blame at all levels when their teams don’t perform up to par , but fans need to take a deep breath and look at the big picture .

    • 100% correct. Check back in 2 years to see if Enfield has an NCAA team. I want to see improvement next year…but O’Neill left that cupboard so bare that even Phil Jackson would be hard pressed to win more than a game or two in conference. The roster just has no talent on it.

    • 100% agree. I remember Plashke writing an article when Haden was initially hired that he should be CA next’s governor, not SC’s AD. In a cynical sense, I agree with Plashke. Haden clearly has this whole political thing down to a science. The guy is complete Teflon. We didn’t just have the two worst coaches in major college sports under his watch, we had the two most destructive coaches in major college sports. O’Neil’s reign makes the Kiffin years look like paradise.

    • Right on Fred. Since the AD allowed this team to fester under the “lack of” coaching guidance of the drunken loser O’Neil, then Andy Enfield at very least deserves a 100% pass on this season, since he had to try to compete with the worst roster in the conference.
He gets 6 newby’s to start next year, and also will have had a year to recruit the nation for future players in his fledgling program. At least when USC starts next season they will have a half of a team of competitive players. Then it will be up to Enfield to produce or be gone.
Change of subject..Wondering who last longer Haden or Sark

  4. So Andy’s prognosticating a Pac 12 tournament Championship. Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t SUCC’s 2014 BB recruiting class rated 75 or 76th in the D-1 nation. The majority of the Pac 12 conf. team recruited much better classes than SUCC. In the South Div. alone, SUCC has to climb over: Az, Cal, Colo, Stanford, UCLA, and Utah to exit the So. Div. cellar. Good luck Andy, you’re an outstanding door stop.

  5. You guys should just hire Tosh Lupio to help you BAG some big recruits, if you catch my dirft.

    • Nope! Missed it!
Guess you will have to continue to drift, never to be heard from or seen again. Hint: If you encounter a shark who thinks you are a seal, bring out the ol’ 8-clap. It just might work…but then again, it might not.
