Quick Thoughts On USC Basketball

When a player violates team rules like Byron Wesley or Pe’Shon Howard, instead of suspending them, shouldn’t the punishment for this team be the opposite during this forgettable season. In other words, for violating team rules, you must endure playing the entire game!

Here’s a chart courtesy of a reader comparing USC and Florida Gulf Coast:

USC 2012-13:  9-9 in Pac-12, 14-18 overall
USC 2013-14:  currently 1-13 in Pac-12, 10-17 overall

FGCU 2012-13:  13-5 in league, 24-10 overall pre-NCAA tourney (26-11 afterward)
FGCU 2013-14:  13-3 in league, 19-10 overall

  1. On stats alone, the obvious conclusion is SUCC should withdraw from the Pac-12 conf. and petition to join the Florida BB league FGC is affiliated with.

  2. wolfman, i think someone mustta poured a WHOLE BOTTLE of Tapitio in your menudo this morning….
porque tu eres EN FUEGO, hombre!!!
(’cause you are ON FIRE, man!!!)

  3. USC is still O’Neil’s team and FGCU is still Enfield’s team. Winning is 80% talent, 10% coaching. When Enfield gets his guys look out!

    • An optimistic opinion. One question though: What is Enfield’s realistic time frame to obtain his guys? Losing BB programs, as a rule, have problems recruiting better players and SUCC is a loser BB program. Stats don’t fib.

      • I would expect at least improvement year to year. As bad as SC BB has been this has to be the lowest. Enfield has to be a better draw than O’Niel.

  4. You could make them play for the women’s team, but they would bring that team down! Water Polo School On!
