Todd McNair Update

Here’s a good story by CBS Sports columnist Dennis Dodd updating the Todd McNair case.

“The NCAA argues in defense of an ongoing defamation suit that possible “factual errors, inadequate investigation and overt hostility” by the association should not help the case of former USC assistant coach Todd McNair,” Dodd writes.

  1. “factual errors, inadequate investigation and overt hostility.”

Is the NCAA referring to their own work or Gargamel’s?

  2. Wolf should just change the headline to blogs like these to, “Hey — look at an article I found on the internet….”

    • Other than the factual errors, inadequate investigation and overt hostility. other than all of that, we think our case is pretty solid…

After reading this latest bit from the NCAA, how can any rational person think that USC/Todd McNair did not get completely screwed?

Oh well. Haden won’t sue the NCAA so F them! We’ll come back bigger and stronger.

    • And ironically cheap lies, that’s exactly what SUCC fan always claim as what happened within SUCC’s FB program during the Bush marketing scam. Ignorance is no excuse, is it cheap lies. BTW CL, has McNair or Bush publicly stated Little Petey didn’t know squat? Just asking.

      • The hole in your argument is that the accused is never required to prove his/her innocence. It’s up to the prosecutor to prove guilt, which is becoming increasingly more apparent that the NCAA was unable to do.

        • In a court of Law. I believe Reggie coughed up the coins for Lake per a court decision or settlement. Ergo, Bush is guilty of scamming illegal cash during his SUCC FB tenure.

          • Once again, where is your proof that Pete or even McNair knew? From every report I’ve seen, it has said that the favor is in McNair’s corner.

      • I’ll just agree with you from now on.

Yes sir — USC is very, very bad.

Is there ever an objective stance from you?

        • Cheap Lies I had absolutely zero to do with the NCAA imposition of sanctions to SUCC’s FB and BB program. It’s like when Bush Jr. was elected President. I didn’t vote for Bush in that terrible election. But that doesn’t mean I can’t have an opinion with hindsight on both decisions.

        • Question Joey. Ready: Has Bush or McNair publically exonerated Little Petey from knowledge of the SUCC FB program improprieties perpetrated during Little Petey’s HC tenure? Yes or No Joey?

  3. Money Quote: one NCAA administrative staffer called McNair “a lying morally bankrupt criminal, in my view, and a hypocrite of the highest order.”

that wild and Crazy (late Great) Paul Dee!!!

HEY!! that’s what the CADRE has been saying all along!!!!

    c’mon, UNSEAL the files…..oh puh-LEEEEEEEZE!!!!!

  4. One irony is that Todd McNair was not a public figure until the NCAA made him one.

While I am clearly hot a USC fan, I hope they shine a bright light on the proceedings and open the file. It is time for all of this to be transparent and for the public to see the inner workings of the NCAA.

I hope both Todd McNair and Ed O’Bannon get the opportunity to fully air their respective grievances in public. College sports will only be the better for it.

    • Dude, here’s the difference: Todd got screwed. Eddie O was a failure in the NBA and is looking for a payday. Come on.

      • We don’t know if McNair got screwed or not. NCAA operates fully in secret. And, if they are using player’s likenesses in video games and making millions off of them, who’s to say they shouldn’t get a payday. Open it up for the world to see.

        • Didn’t say they shouldn’t. BUT, it started because OB was a FLOP in the NBA, had no business skills and was looking for a payday. Just happened his buddy brought it to his attention. So he jumped on it.

          • Yes, it was brought to his attention. It is also now a class action. The case just carries his name. Anything that exposes the NCAA to public scrutiny is a good thing.

          • I agree it’s a good thing. But you have to admit that OB was a BB failure and wouldn’t be doing jack right now if it weren’t for the lawsuit. I’d bet he did not graduate.

          • I have no idea if he graduated. He was in school 5 years, so if he didn’t, then it’s all on him. There would be no reason not to as he didn’t leave early. I think he is working at a Toyota dealership in Las Vegas. Some people forget that Tark handed him to UCLA after the sanctions came down.

          • So do you agree or dancing around the facts? You really think a Toyota car salesman is a college graduate position?

  5. The media should shame the NCAA much more than they do – they don’t because their hands are in the association’s pockets. Congrats to Dodd for doing his job.
