USC v. UCLA

Here’s a comparison for today: Which athletic director would you hire if you were the president at USC or UCLA? Dan Guerrero’s gone through several football coaches before finding Jim Mora. Pat Haden’s cross to bear is Lane Kiffin.

Then there is basketball and the other sports . . .  like baseball. So who would you pick?

  1. Mike Garrett hired Kiffin. Haden’s cross to bear is one comparatively lost season in 2013 because Kiffin came back after the Sun Bowl debacle .

    • It wasn’t even a very good use of that phrase by Wolf. Usually you don’t get to fire your cross to bear. “Things aren’t working out, Cross. Sorry.”

    • I don’t think 2013 was a lost season – the team got their mojo back and had a very good record. This showed USC was on a rebound and resulted in an excellent recruiting class. It also allowed for an upgrade in coaching. So think of 2013 as an investment in the future.

      • It’s why hushed the qualifier “comparatively lost.” It was salvaged but they lost two their two vastly inferior rivals. That’s a lost season to me. But my standards are probably high.

Good point WEB. It was less a cross to bear and more a leftover piece of a Bucket he had to excise. He just took too long to do it.

        • Some things don’t change, like The Pompous hypocritical TorganFamily Rah rah ( are you related to Lawyer John?) Great line by you when you said…”But my standards are probably high”. Yup…I suppose your so called HIGH STANDARDS are the reason you post here 2-3 times every day. Seriously…No seriously…….
          fit Un!

          • Sentences should actually relate to one another. How does my standard for USC coaching have anything to do with how often I post?

Randomly capitalizing a nonsensical phrase doesn’t give it meaning.

            Nice try though, Summer’s Eve.

          • **Randomly capitalizing a nonsensical phrase doesn’t give it meaning.**

It does if your priority is to emulate your idol…Charlie B, and I am not referring to Charles Barkley.

      • That shows what a brainless rah rah you are. Losing to either of our two rivals is always a lost season.

    • That cross was made out of styrofoam compared to his completely defecating on the basketball program…which will take longer to come back than football.

  2. Where is the LAME POLL? I’m sure there will be one coming up soon about this very boring post..

    • You’re avatar is perfect for a southern cal fan; fake boobs, fake butt, didn’t even go to southern cal (she went to Cal State Fullerton). What an loser.

  3. Instead of Scottie manufacturing the news, he wants the readers to manufacture some – where are we going with this?

  4. The trolls will be here any minute to start calling names. What a dumb question Wolf, even sucla doesn’t like Guerrero.

  5. I think Gargamel would be an outstanding AD. Nobody has better 20/20 hindsight vision.

    • Golly-Nerd would be a great Director of Comic Con conventions with his excellent knowledge of Smurfs and Star Wars trivia.

      • Trojan Reach Around/marvgoux/godouche22/Guest would be an excellent managing director at GLAAD

  6. Guerrero’s got a long, established history of choosing the cheaper, worse choice. I consider Mora nothing but an aberration. Haden hasn’t had the job long enough to judge him.

    • A reasonable contribution.

I suppose next you’ll come up with a crazy claim that this is an impostor.

        • Charlie bucket is a fictional character. How can any version be any less “faux” than another?

          • Faux Faux?

Maybe he just dreams of being a poor English lad who inherits a chocolate factory. Or maybe he just has inappropriate thoughts about Oompa Loompas.

      • It’s almost March Madness Troll Bracket time. I’m picturing a field of 8. Maybe 10 with a couple of play-in games. I’m counting on the Superdome to host the Final 4.

        • Isn’t expecting certain combinations of these trolls to show up at the Superdome similar to expecting Batman and Bruce Wayne to both show up?

          • so we’re comparing Bucket to Batman and like in Batman the Dark Knight….there are lots of Batman imposters popping up?? is that where this is going???

            SWEEEEET!!!!

Money Quote: “I’m not wearing Hockey pants….”

    • obviously Faux Bucket!!!

Mora has whipped trOXans two years in a row!!! acheived a better record than trOXans two year in a row.

and further, Hadden has BOTCHED all of his major sport hires!!!

Guerrero has home runs with Mora, Alford and Savage!!!

leave it to you Dummies to not be able to recognize a facetious question from the wolfman!!

      • You know who hasn’t been seen around here for a long time? Retired Bill. That guy would stay off the blog for weeks, then suddenly appear and take you down to Chinatown.

      • Leave it to Bucket to satisfied with coach that does not even have a pac12 title. 8 Clap U has huge USC envy.

      • **Guerrero has home runs with Mora, Alford and Savage!!!**
I assume that Rick (the p****) was a bunt on 3rd strike that went foul.

    • Bucket,
Guerrero hired Derek Freeman as golf coach and he won a N.C. He hired the baseball coach that won a NC last season. He hired John Speraw who will win a Men’s NC in volleyball, this year or next year or both. He hired Alford who hasn’t had the job long enough to judge. In men’s sports last year, SC beat UCLA in one sport, Water Polo. Dan’s performance buries Haden in every aspect except SPIN.

      • There is like 3 years of Haden, 12 of Guerrero. Guerrero had better have more championships. And I liked the Alford move. Every booster I’ve talked to has said Guerrero does just good enough to keep his job.

  7. UCLA vs USC:

Which Daily News writer would you pick? Wang or Bucket — I mean Wolf?

    • I’ll take Wolf any day!! I’m not sure Wang has a full time job, and covers UCLA on a part-time basis. He goes sometimes days without posting a damn thing, even during in the 2 weeks prior to NLOI day, he just disappeared!! WTF?

      • I noticed that there were over 50 entries on a recent Wang post, but it seemed like that was only the case because Wang went 24 hours or so before putting up another post, so people just kept responding to each other on the same thread. Of course, half those entries were from you-know-who from this board.

      • Yeah, but Wang’s blogs seem to encourage discussion about UCLA.

On the other hand, Wolf’s discussions are blatantly obvious to promote name calling and get under someone’s skin. Look at his last 10-20 entries and I find myself sometimes forcing football-related comments into those topics!

        • Gary Klein, Wang is a lazy writer just like you are, doing less than the minimum. We all know your rah rah stories are actually written by the USC SID, which leaves you plenty of tme to kvetch here under your various screen names.

    • Haden approved it along with the other Trustees, not to mention ALL of the associate ADs.

  8. The complete opposite of Scott Wolf is the one who was just lauded as a national columnist by the AP – I give you Jill Painter! (Psssttt she’s perfect for UCLA – she never ever says anything bad about them).

  9. No contest. Guerrero’s teams beat SC in every sport but Water Polo last year.
Haden is a fireman. He came in to put out the PR fire but stayed too long.
Pat is a nice guy and very smooth, very well spoken. Guererro produces results.

    • *** very smooth, very well spoken***
Is that the acceptable alternative to Toro Mierda?
