Chris Willson Back To Quarterback

Walk-on tight end Chris Willson, who started the Arizona game last season, is moving back to quarterback for spring practice. Willson will need to change his number because he is currently listed as No. 87.

This means the coaches do not think they are as thin at tight end as some believed after last season. We hear starter Randall Telfer is still not 100 percent recovered from last season’s injuries, by the way.

  1. Chris can wear my #55 jersey.. I have both the cardinal home jersey and the white away jersey, but no pants!. I’m switching numbers this year too. My fiancĂ© says I’m a #10.

Or….it might mean the TE position is used significantly less in Sark’s “uptempo” offense.

Me thinks the latter. Say goodbye to the FB and TE.

    • Not sure about TE, since Sefarian-Jenkins won Mackey Award. Doesn’t mean you’re wrong.

I do feel bad for the FBs, even though I was among those thinking last year that two RBs should play together.

I could see three WRs, and I could see two RBs, with one in slot. Do I hear any volunteers to cover Allen, Madden, or Isaac over the middle? Well then, how about Davis or Morgan?

Plus Mitchell, plus J. Smith. I have no confidence that Farmer will stay healthy, but it could happen. And you know that A. Jackson will whine if he isn’t targeted a few times a game. While Sark was announcing that he’d play defense, he was saying he would play offense.

There is plenty of diverse skill. But is there an effective OL?

      • Good job showing that Gary Klein has no clue as usual. Seferian-Jenkins set Washington records for receptions (110), receiving yards (1,390) and touchdowns (13) for the tight end position after his sophomore year… if the past is prologue our tight ends will be feasting this Fall.

        • Thanks for that stat. That’s good to know and would’ve been great if Telfer or Grimble were featured as both are more than capable.

On a side note, that’s the was most substance I’ve seen from a post of yours. It would be great to see more outside of the normal thin-skinned, b*tt hurt tantrums.

      • Good points. I’ll be able to get a feel for where Sark wants the offense in a few weeks of spring ball.

So far, during the 7-on-7s, the only difference from last year I’ve seen is Browne getting more reps and both QBs being exclusively out of the shotgun.

On goal line situations at UW, what did Sark do? Was he still in the spread? Or did he have some power formations with an extra tackle or TE?

  3. Maybe the staff screwed up when they ran Scroggins off……Another 5 Star recruit bites the dust.
(I believe that Scroggins class was rated #1 in the country)
    fit Un!
