USC Big West Connections

Tonight’s Cal State Northridge-Cal Poly San Luis Obispo basketball game for the Big West Tournament title has USC ties, of course. San Luis Obispo coach Joe Callero is a former USC assistant. And Northridge A.D. Brandon Martin is a former USC basketball player. Northridge coach Reggie Theus almost got the USC job when Kevin O’Neill was hired.

And now both schools have a chance to make the NCAA Tournament while USC . . .

UPDATED: Cal Poly wins 61-59 and Callero leads the Mustangs to their first NCAA Tournament berth.

  1. Unfortunately Mr Haden won’t be watching either of those games tonight because, he will be tied up in a SUCC bean count meeting justifying Sugar Ray Enfield’s fat check for very limited BB HC services.

  2. This post made me jump out of my seat like I was at Showtime at the Apollo. And coming from an alum. OUCH!

  3. SUCC Boys Basketbawl would finish near the bottom of the BIG WEST if they were to join the conference. UC Irvine, Cal Poly, Northridge, L.B. State, and UCSB are all better than LIMBO U. Seinfeld would look good half way thru the “pre season”, then the team would fade fast..just like Baseball and Football. Thank goodness you have that “swell” academic reputation to fall back on…
U Stupid Clowns are in a league of your own!
    Fit Un!

  4. OK, OK, USC men’s basketball sucked this year! Enfield has to show big progress next year. But really the winners of the WAC and Big West should have got the SC job over Enfield? Don’t think so.
