The Pac-12 Is Making Some Money

At the NCAA Tournament, no less. With three teams in the Sweet 16, the conference has already made about $3.25 million under the formula that rewards conferences with more teams advancing through each round.

Well, good. SC football has earned Pac-12 schools a lot of money over the years through its bowl participation, so maybe we can see a bit of reciprocation, albeit at a much lower scale (basketball is a poor man’s football)

Imagine if the 64 teams had colluded to create an obscure enough perfect bracket and then fixed games to achieve it. They would each net north of $16M splitting Warren Buffet’s reward. Do our great academic institutions have no more mathematicians?
