A Quick Note On Mickey Mantle

The item below recounts when former Yankees great Mickey Mantle hit two home runs in an exhibition game at the old Bovard Field at USC, which no longer exists. Bovard Field used to be across from where Heritage Hall is now located.

Mantle was only 19 and had not yet played in a regular-season game for the Yankees. USC featured future major-leaguer and Houston Astros manager Bob Lillis and went to the College World Series that year.

    • Not true, Charlie. I was there for that game. Dimag and Phil played also. Casey was the manager. The Mick was awesome. It was a huge event!
