  1. Seems like USC assumes that we are all feeling super-confident about the Sark hire.

  2. It’s a great way to keep the riff raff out. If you can’t afford it then you shouldn’t be at the game. There are always seats at the UCLA home games…and cheap.

  3. I have been going to the games for more years than I care to admit to, but I think my time at the Coliseum is nearing an end. The game-day experience has deteriorated (e.g. parking, Thursday & Friday night games, weak non-conference schedule, conference playoff, & too many meaningless bowl games) and SC is making it more expensive. Attending in person just isn’t worth the trouble. I have little doubt that when SC is done, if will have made modest changes to an obsolete stadium, while charging fans more for it.

    • It will be a limited renovation for sure. I still haven’t done a “tailgate only” game, but will likely be doing so with the quality of opponents going down.

    • I agree. SC seems to think that they can emulate other programs that refurbish or build new stadiums. One HUGE difference, almost all of the other college’s supporters have virtually NOTHING ELSE to do. i.e. Texas, Washington, even Stanford, etc. At those type schools, it’s an all day event in a great environment. Not the same at SC. Not the traffic either.

  4. $12000 for decent seats in a stadium nearly a 100 years old, built for Olympic track and field not football. It already was a 12 hour project to go to a game from San Diego. I got my couch, 50″ HD TV, and 18year old single malt. Sorry Pat H, I’m staying home.

  5. I wonder if classifying the payment as a “PSL” will change the tax advantages to making a “donation” to University. If someone uses their seats more as a marketing expense, I can see it being deductible. Of course, they’d have to be able to defend the expense.

With a donation, it was easier to classify the deduction. Any tax people here?

  6. I thought money was no object when it came to Southern Cal football. At least, that is what my maid said!
