USC Morning Buzz: Coliseum Survey Personal-Seat License Flaw

COLI.SPRINGMany of the seats in the picture would fall under the $4,000-per-seat category in the Coliseum survey sent out last week. And that’s a problem. If you sit at the 50-yard line, you pay the same as the people sitting behind the goal posts. I’m guessing that will change . . . hopefully.

  1. Pat o’Haden figures he has a license to print money!!

after all, his coaching choices have been complete flops, Four Football coaches in three months, Basketball reaching new LOWS, and baseball imploding on cue!!

since he suffers no reprisals for his crummy work, why NOT raise prices!! he must think he’s dealing with Dummies!

  2. Did Haden meet with Dan Guerrero on this? It sounds like something that only UCLA could screw up! And I am a Bruin. Amazing incompetence seems to be contagious across town.

  3. Probation U: The difference between USC and ucla is that the Rose Bowl is being renivated on the backs of the citizens of Pasadena, while the renovation for the Colisuem is on the back of USC fans. I don’t believe ucla is asking their season ticket holders a personal liscened seat fee. You have been objective and when someone attacked you, then you would protect. Let me know if ucla will charge a psl.

    • I am unaware of any PSL for the Rose Bowl. Given that the Rose Bowl is owned by the City, it was a decision that they apparently made as part of the negotiation. At SC, SC now owns or controls the Coliseum. That is the difference.

Season ticket holders were asked for additional money during the Pauley Pavilion remodel, however is wasn’t a PSL but in order to maintain your same seats, you had to come up with some additional money every year. It wasn’t a one-time thing.

  4. I’m still waiting to witness the product Steve Sarkision puts on the field , because USC has a history of not getting it Right . Although I must admit Pat Haden got it right with Cynthia Cooper , but all of the other major programs SUCK !!!!

  5. As I pointed out earlier for a mere $5000 and change my family of 4 can sit at the upper rim of the coliseum and watch the TV across the stadium. Or we can buy a big screen maintain our TV package and watch the empty coliseum from home.

  6. Another flaw is that season ticket holders for one year will be required to pay for capital improvements that will be in place for decades. For example, the existing Coliseum seats were installed about 50 years ago. Should the season ticket holders of 1964 have been be singled-out to pay for them? If the university pursues this proposed plan, many fans will simply opt-out and no longer see the games in person. It isn’t worth the hassle and many of us refuse to be exploited this way. Reminds me of the time SC took over my off-campus apartment building: the rent went up over 60% and dealing with the off-site management was much more difficult. Do we have to tell the university that people usually don’t stand in line for higher prices and poorer service?
