The Importance Of Beating Archrivals Notre Dame And UCLA Continued

Perhaps the worst part of Lane Kiffin’s legacy is USC’s four straight to losses to Notre Dame and UCLA. Kiffin did not coach the losses last season but he still shoulders the responsibility (along with Pat Haden).

Just remember that before Kiffin, the last time USC lost to Notre Dame/UCLA in the same season was 1995. And then it happened twice in his reign/wake.

This is possibly the biggest way Steve Sarkisian can prove himself this season: Beating your archrivals.

  1. 100% Agree!!! And the Irish are weak defensively this season, so no excuse not to beat the irish at home in November.

    • Their great running quarterback Everett Golson returns after his year long suspension so it’s going to be a very tough game against the Domers.

      • I didn’t say it was going to be easy, but USC should win. Besides, Golson could be second string behind Zaire by the end of the season. And thank goodness both QB can run, bc the irish tailbacks lack talent after Bryant. ND defense has a walk on starting at MLB and only one talented DL (S Day). The secondary returns some talent, but will lack any pass rush to maximize it’s strength. USC 27 nd 17

  2. That’s what it means to be on sanctions.. Just be happy USC had two of those seasons at 10 wins..
    BOOM!

  3. Worse than losing to UCLA and ND, Kiffin’s unlikeable personality allowed Mora to waltz into the city like some kind of prince. That, more so than anything else was the worst thing that Kiffin did to SC. He freaking even the playing field between SC and UCLA in terms of recruiting, media exposure, etc… Perhaps not even, but definitely a lot more even than it would be had anybody else been at SC.

    • The last time f ucla gained parity with us was when we went on probation and hired Ted Tollner and we saw a similar result.
