USC Morning Buzz: Offense Quiet At Coliseum During Scrimmage

As Cody Kessler discusses, the offense struggled during Saturday’s scrimmage at the Coliseum. Here’s my recap from the scrimmage, with Steve Sarkisian’s reaction and a look at some of the playcalling. Story here

  1. Announced crowd of 15,000?? Really? That number has to include people “near” the Coliseum, which mean people inside the Museums, Science Center et al. Inside the count was closer to 8,000 and even then that’s a generous number.

    • Did you attend? This was by the far the biggest spring game crowd that I have seen in some time.

  2. The apparent takeaway from Saturday’s Spring Game is the same as last year. It would be better to plan for a swarming defense to hold opponents scores low while kicking 5 field goals and maybe scoring one touchdown to win games 22 to 14. Running an up tempo offense will tire the thin ranks of the defense and could compromise such a defensive game strategy especially at the end of each game. Holding on to an inflexible strategy of an up temp offense may not work out. It might be worth it to have a Plan B of using a strategy of “start where the strengths of your team are” and go with that, especially during the first 5 or 6 games when new, young players will have to be installed into the offensive line. Shotgun Offense – Yes. 3-5 Defense: Yes. Up tempo strategy – maybe but maybe not.

  3. I have done my own first-hand research for my trolling today. I pretended to be mentally handicapped and they let me in the USC spring practice for free. Not much action going on, but there was a bounce-house, so that was cool. The little kid who threw the touchdown pass looked like the strongest QB; too bad he’s already taking money under the table from a wanna-be agent with a cool bike.

    • Rob, based on your outstanding work, I am putting your name in nomination for the Cadre’s Young Executive Leadership Program, or YELP.

If approved, you’ll be assigned a mentor and will be on the fast track to possible Cadre Executive Council membership in 5-10 yrs.

Please post your SS# and a credit card number (we won’t charge your card until you approved you for admittance).

      Congrats.

    • No need for you to pretend you big goof. Having shot yourself in both feet with your recent posts would have gotten you some undeserved compassion from a gate attendant. Your posts reveal your immaturity. We are still waiting for you to tell us one thing you have accomplished in your life, you little snot.

      • What have I accomplished? On Saturday at the spring game, I proclaimed myself King of the Bounce House, and my first act as King was to claim the bounce house for UCLA. I told the kids, “Bruins only!” Ha ha, all these little kids tried to take me down, but I was like “No. Nope. Not you either. Forget about it. Nice try, shorty.” I was chopping them up and I was chopping them down.

  4. What a nice guy Cody is to talk with Wolf-tard even though the commentary is cut midstream as usual – kinda takes the mystery out of why Wolf is single
