USC Morning Buzz: The Power Of The Media Helps Save Tradition

SEAU

I asked Willie McGinest how he heard about his jersey number (55) being given to offensive lineman Toa Lobendahn.

“The media,” McGinest said.

I’ve written about this travesty of tradition on the blog and newspaper, so I’m glad to have played a part in brining it to McGinest’s attention.

“We’ll fix it,” USC coach Steve Sarkisian said.

I’ve heard at least two other No. 55’s (Chris Claiborne, Keith Rivers) were also unhappy to see their number given away to a non-linebacker. This might be Sarkisian’s first own goal as head coach, but to his credit, he fixed it.

And if you thought this was no big deal that an offensive player wore No. 55, how does it feel to be on the wrong side of McGinest, Claiborne, Rivers and Ronnie Lott?

  1. you mean: the POWER OF THE WOLFMAN!!!

wolfman, you keep waggin’ the DOG baby!!!

good to see Sark has LEARNED his lesson (which is something Kiff never did)!!

Dummies, you can all learn from this too: when the wolfman says “this is how it is” then, THAT’S HOW IT IS!!!

    AUUUUUUU-WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  2. Well done, Wolf…. don’t break your arm patting yourself on the back….But if the media insist upon taking the credit for positive changes, then they must also take the blame and face accountability for their witch hunts……

  3. Travesty averted–whew! Sarkesian almost scored an “own goal”. Perhaps Sarkesian doesn’t realize he is the football coach rather than the futbol coach?

  4. NEWS FLASH: wolfman take a knee, i GOT THIS!!!

CALABASAS CBSLA(DOT)com — Former NFL wide receiver and
USC standout Keyshawn Johnson was arrested for misdemeanor spousal
battery early Monday morning at his San Fernando Valley home.

  5. Pat yourself on the back, Scottie. You fought the good fight as a loyal Trojan alum, and you got the job done as the media writ large. No 55 on offense! On to the national championship!

  6. Funny that when he answered, he said, “the media…”

You would think if it was actually W*lf that deserved the credit, he would’ve answered, “YOU told us.”
