How Should USC Use The Land?

OLYMPICS.2A roof on the Coliseum is probably not a necessity in Southern California, though if I had to sit in the hot sun at a (getting rarer) day game, I might like the roof. However, I’m curious what fans think USC should do where that soccer stadium sits in the picture?

Should USC undertake such a stadium? It might attract an MLS team if that is considered a plus. Should it build a parking structure for more football parking? You can never have enough parking on Game Day. Or should it just leave the Sports Arena as it is and rent it out for TV commercials and concerts, which is something it does with some success right now and would be the cheapest option.

I would have a soccer field with an 80 yard field and rent it out to the Bruins for football practice.

    • SUCC de trop

I guess the compressed 60 yd. field the # 1 offense used during SUCC’s entire spring practice game is now the new standard for SUCC. Has the offense scored a TD yet ‘Nado?

      • take a KNEE, ‘Nado, i GOT THIS!!!

SUCC, they HAVE STILL NOT scored a TD!!

lots of LONG FACES over in the Mausoleum!!

You two idiots need to get a room and don’t forget fresh batteries!

    • Arturo

Practice? They could use it for their home field as it would be closer than driving all the way to Rose Bowl. Although I guess them playing their games at the Rose Bowl during the regular season is as close to the “Rose Bowl” as they will ever get.

The 1990’s was their last appearance, pathetic! That was a loooooooong ago!

  • Frank Cruz

parking lot. soccer is a dead sport here in the us.

  • ThaiMex

Go in with wrecking balls and cranes….and level the Coli, sports arena, and SUC….then cover it all in salt for 200 years! The Galen gets to stay because those Kids Choice Awards are the best thing going on over at Fig Tech.
    fit Un!

    • SUCC de trop

Or SUCC could open a Mega BMW dealership. Just think SUCCsters, all SUCC faculty, alumni, and students would be eligible for an up front 10%
discount and a SUCC Lic. plate holder on any purchase or lease.

      • trOXans prefer to RENT their cars!!

tax purposes, you know…..(psssst–they can’t afford to buy)

Is that why it’s always the ’96 accords and the like with the UGLY alumni plate holders?

When you have to troll a sports blog 24/7 life must really suck!

        Dementia is some nasty stuff

    • rusoviet

Bluntly if one is a ucla fan you have two things ‘en flagrante’
presently – you’re green with envy and ready to emit the usual bile
      expressing such.

Add the potential loss of Jackie Robinson Field plus an 80 yd. football practice field and now whose choosing Westwood to play for?

      • SUCC de trop

Commie SUCC, has the SUCC FB offense scored a TD yet. UCLA rules LA Football and Basketball. You must be pinkish with embarrassment.

        • TrojanFan3.0

It must suck to never have won a BCS game.

Take the trash out and get the homework done

        • Larry Harris

You SEC guys appear to not know squat. What happened to last weeks UCLA rules LA Football, Basketball, AND BASEBALL schtick? It must really hurt when, as bad as we are in baseball, we swept the cross-towners. You will discover just why our FB offense has yet to score a TD. It is called defense. Guaranteed to tear opponents a new one. Bruin fans will find out soon enough. Basketball? We will give you that one…at least for the next three years…one year maybe, if we had a different AD.

Oh you silly racial stereotype. Bucket is just doing his best Cliven Bundy impersonation here. Rest assured, this post neither represents the Thai nor the Mexican communities. It does, however, represent the silly sterling-esque mind of a troll with a dozen fake logins.

        Try two dozen!

There is the impending award of a post-season college football bowl that is to be played at the Coliseum – that’s a smart move to garner more income.

I’d heard possibly building a baseball stadium with seating capacity in the mid-20K range – let the university use it for USC baseball and then see about getting one of the current California (A) league or an Independent league to use it.

The need maybe parking but the steady revenue is use and with a cavity already there upon demolition of the old Sports Arena it already has potential for so many uses – state of the art tennis stadium, soccer (maybe a mens team) -La Crosse field – a track and field stadium – all of these free up more space on the campus.

    • SUCC de trop

      “Bluntly” Logorrhea extremus.

    • ProbationU

Baseball stadium actually a good idea from the Ukraine invader. Plus he quotes Blazing Saddles. Is it possible he isn’t a totally lost cause?

      • SUCC de trop

Prior to the Dodger’s and Giant’s moving west, the old PCL served Triple A Baseball in the west. The LA Angels and the Hollywood stars were the primary southland teams. Their games were heavily televised and supported by great fan attendence. In 1956 Steve Bilko hit 60 home runs for the LA Angels. My father took me to many games at Wrigley Field, the first professional BB stadium I ever attended – the field was so damn green. However once the Dodger’s arrived the Angels and the Stars relocated. So a class A BB team would be hard pressed to survive in the shade of Dodger Stadium and MLB.

        • Independent_George

I would think that LA would be too expensive to filed a minor league team.

But minor league games are a good time, mainly because the games don’t last 3.5 to 4 hours, like the average NYY-Boston snoozefest.

I’d build a “COMMUNITY CENTER” so that all the unemployed fUclan grads could have a safe place to play Xbox in between learning new job skills. I’d also subsidize that training by having those same grads staff game day to earn valuable work experience. Donald Sterling could build them affordable housing too.

      Too funny.
