Mike Gillespie Stat Of The Night

Mike Garrett’s decision to fire Mike Gillespie was one of the worst decisions I’ve seen at USC. And the Trojans’ loss was UC Irvine’s gain. Gillespie is 11-4 against the Trojans since he got hired by UCI in 2008.

Right. Awful. SC’s Baseball program was on FIRE at the time. Come on. The program was in the dumps and Mike was on auto pilot. He had to go. It gave him the “fire” to come back and wind up being a fantastic coach again. The travesty was forcing SC to hire his son in law. Wake up Scott. You should know better. Ask Brandon.

    • Go Tama

It would have been OK to fire him if MG had a competent replacement instead of the dope he hired that ran the program into the ground and buried it.

      • NOBSisdaMAN

MG had no choice. Check it out. If he didn’t hire Chad, Mike would have not “retired” and made a big stink.

        • NOBSisdaMAN

And, YES, Chad ran the program further into the ground.

        • now you’re defending MG?? you stood a better chance when you were defending Cliven and Donald!!

You SHOULD be defending the WOLFMAN!!! not these dumbbells and racists!!!

don’t tell me, MG was taken out of CONTEXT!!!

          • NOBSisdaMAN

I’ll always defend Mike Garrett. A winner. Ten times better than Patty boy. So go ahead and join the 99%er Mob. You’ll make a great follower, you sure aren’t a leader.

          • Garrett a winner!!! HAWR-HAWR!!!

he was forced to take his fourth choice, Caesar, and then claimed credit for the next 15 yrs!!

when i think of all the dumbbells attorneys i’ve known in my life i have to chortle to think how many times MG failed the Bar exam…..(chortle)

          • TrojanFan3.0

This coming from a washed-up beat writer, beyond pathetic!

You need to take a look at yourself in the mirror and reflect

ps….and you wonder why you get no respect

          • NOBSisdaMAN

2 Nattys with Pete. You’re the dumb one. MG should get the c r a p for failures and credit for ALL the Nattys.

BTW, MG is SMARTER than YOU!

          • no Crystal. just fired in disgrace.

like when you were fired from the your job at Sonic for giving free sodas to T-Fail.

          • UCLA Bleauz

There’s no mistaking YOUR context……..stupidity is pretty easy to identify…..

  • timtrojan

Only Scotty can dump on a 9 game winning streak. Including a sweep of the baby blues.

    • that’s our wolfman!!!

      • UCLA Bleauz

        That’s YOUR Wolfman…….

        • you just keep on the keep padding the wolfman’s Blog stats.

we are almost on target to becoming the top sports blog in the western United States!!!

          pick up the pace, Dummies!!!

  • WEB_Dupree

James Franklin, a Wolfman favorite, is in the news. Something about a hostess program, an alleged rape, and Franklin contacting the alleged victim during her medical exam. According to a certain blogger last fall, Haden was an idiot for not bringing this guy to USC.

    • UCLA Bleauz

I read the same thing earlier this morning…..Had Franklin actually been hired by Haden, Wolfie would have had a field day crying about why USC hadn’t done their due diligence……so predictable…..

      • WEB_Dupree

I recall that when Wolf was hyping Franklin, sometimes a reader would point out, “But what about that Vandy rape scandal?” It was weird how Wolf never seemed to regard it as potentially serious baggage (even if the new witness-tampering allegation wasn’t public at the time).

If this was a Kiffin scandal, it would be added to the list of Kiffin’s crimes against humanity.

        • UCLA Bleauz

……. and he would blog about it on a daily basis…….

    • Toejam For Life

If that is true, he would be a perfect fit for Southern Cal! He will definitely be on the short list when Sark gets fired in two years for back-to-back six win seasons!

  • Alan D. Miller

    Typical half-the-story Wolf.

Mike Gillespie — who turns 74 next week!! — was 118-115 his last 4 seasons at SC, making the post-season only once. He was totally on cruz control and needed to go. The problem was his replacement.

And, contrary to Wolf’s claims, Gillespie hasn’t exactly been a rock star at UCI.

  • tim chaney

don’t forget his firing of tim Floyd, who damn near had the program contending every year.
