Could Bob Cantu Emerge As Candidate For Oregon State?

Former UCLA coach Ben Howland is getting a lot of buzz for the Oregon State job. But former USC assistant Bob Cantu should also warrant a look. He’s got more than 10 years of conference experience and won some big games during his interim stint at USC, notably victories over Arizona and UCLA at Pauley Pavilion.

Job searches usually find someone other than the first-mentioned candidate and Cantu would probably be a good fit for the Beavers if things fall apart with Howland.

  1. This is why Scott writes for the Daily News rather than works for a basketball team. I doubt a single basketball writer in America thinks Cantu would be a good hire. To mangle Thoreau “a single foolish writer standing alone constitutes a minority of one.”

  2. Make it two, The man beat UCLA at Pauley, Arizona at home, as an interim. Enfield beats…well, not other teams. Cantu should still be here. OSU would be lucky to have him as coach.

  3. So Wolf is just completely making up his own news stories now?? Geezus. Are there any editorial standards at all here??
