Giants Liked Devon Kennard’s Football Acumen During Pre-Draft Visit

The New York Giants were impressed by USC linebacker Devon Kennard during a pre-draft visit he made with football officials.

“He made a great impression,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. “He played multiple postions. He’s a tough hard-nosed football player. He was great on the (dry erase) board. He was great on that. He really convinced the coaches he was really a sharp football player.”

That was echoed by Marc Ross, the vice president of player evaluation.

“This guy’s one of the sharpest guys we’ve had in terms of football knowledge,” Ross said.

  1. I guess that “instability” in the program didn’t prevent Kennard from developing as a football player.

  2. Let get this straight, the NY Giants were so very enamored with DK, that they waited until the late sixth round (#174) to draft him?

  3. I believe Devon Kennard was affected most by the Lame Kiffin era.. the kid was a stud in high school and has all the potential in the world, but by moving him around 4 different positions at USC hurt him.. He should have never played MLB, and succeeded at the hybrid LB position..
