Quick Steve Ballmer Thought

If Steve Ballmer’s bid to purchase the Clippers goes through, how long before he joins the Board of Trustees at USC? He won’t have any trouble buying a seat, that’s for sure.

  1. You do know that’s how nearly every member of the board of directors for private universities gets seats–they donate a substantial sum to the university. At public schools they tend to have more political appointments.

I hope Steve Ballmer sends $100 million or so to USC and gets a seat. He can sit right next to the Morks. Or maybe he can match Dana and David Dornsife’s $200 million donation and USC can name a school after him.

Great universities get large donations. A large board of directors with large donors seated is a sign of a university’s strength.

    • So tell me again why Southern Cal can’t afford to field softball or men’s soccer teams, among others??

It’s not like equestrian or polo teams, most girls and boys so ca play one ore both of these sports!!

      • Maybe you should have enrolled in one of her classes while she served as Visiting Professor at the Anderson School at UCLA. You could have asked her yourself. You had five years worth of classes from which to choose

        • Jamie McCourt’s elevation to SUCC Trustee seems awful like blatant Scholastic Simony. I’m just curious what SUCC charged J. McCourt for the for rent Trust title. SUCC created Arnie o’ Terminator an Honorary Professor for a one time fee of $20 million.

        • I heard she offered classes on how to destroy one of the greatest franchises in sports history.

          • Well there is the difference between schools. UCLA paid her to give her wisdom and experience to their business students. USC accepted her money and gave her an honorary position without very much influence.
