USC Morning Buzz

LEONARD.2Every year the Pac-12 likes to tinker with its football media day and this year is no different. The event will now be two days this year, which means Larry Scott can be asked about DirecTV and the Pac-12 Network two days instead of one now. USC will have quarterback Cody Kessler and defensive tackle Leonard Williams as its featured players.

Here’s the list of schools and players coming to media day:

JULY 23

Arizona — WR Austin Hill, S Jared Tevis.

Cal — QB Jared Goff, CB Stefan McClure.

USC — QB Cody Kessler, DT Leonard Williams.

Oregon — QB Marcus Mariota, LB Derrick Malone.

WSU — QB Connor Halliday, LB Darryl Monroe.

Utah — WR Dres Anderson, DE Nate Orchard.

JULY 24:

Arizona State — QB Taylor Kelly, OL Jamil Douglas.

Oregon State — QB Sean Mannion, LB Michael Doctor.

UCLA — QB Brett Hundley, LB Eric Kendricks.

Washington — OL Ben Riva, OLB Hau’oli Kikaha.

Stanford — QB Kevin Hogan, DB Jordan Richards.

Colorado — WR Nelson Spruce, DE Juda Parker.

  1. I’m sure Larry Scott will be happy to spill any and all Direct TV details to a writer he considers a mere annoyance at best, a non-factor pest at worst. Thanks for letting us know the media day will be two days earlier than last year. I’m overwhelmed.

    • Of course, Wolfie states when and with whom, but he fails to mention in his post WHERE this years media is being held….FYI…..Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City…….

      • Scottie will be there, for two days, in his slogan, logo-laden old sweatshirt, pestering Larry Scott about Direct TV ad nauseam. (Scottie’s an expert TV negotiator). Can’t wait for the scoop!

        • I can’t wait for Wolfie to as the awkward questions like, “Why do you make so much money, Larry?”…..

          • True. Scottie views himself as responsible for publicly victimizing the millionaire’s club. In George Lucas’s case, make that billionaire’s club. “Mr. Lucas, Do you think your Star Wars films were worthy of their box office? Were you trying to exploit children when you made them. And do you feel responsible for Harrison Ford’s recent broken ankle?”

          • So you feel that’s a relevant question?… once again, Scotties knight in shining armor rushes to his defense….Wolfie must be feeling warm and fuzzy…it’s awkward for the other reporters, such as myself, to listen to his drivel….

          • For putting SC home games during a weekday rush hour with no tailgating and botching the expansion of the Pac 10 to the Pac 16 and leaving us with an unbalanced schedule I do feel he is over paid and that is a relevant question. You on the other hand can’t stop your shameless bootlicking in your every interview Garry Bleauz.

          • So then how much money SHOULD he make for generating over $300 million in revenue for the Pac-12?

          • I approve of a dominant conference with maximum exposure. SC is ill served by the bumbling Larry Scott.

          • So you don’t bother directly answering my question…. typical…in Wolf-like fashion…

          • I don’t let you set the agenda, Garry Bleauz, but I did answer your question directly:

A superior job for the SEC?… in what way?…

          • No, you didn’t……but why let the FACTS get in the way of a juvenile debate…it was a simple yes or no question…..loser

          • Yes I did, but in your typical troll like fashion you are incapable of being honest.

          • “So because Larry Scott negotiated a better deal than Slive, he should be penalized?” is a yes or no question, you dolt…..

          • Only a kiss up would consider a salary equal to a intellectual and professional superior to be a penalty.

          • So because Larry Scott negotiated a better deal than Slive, he should be penalized?….. I would argue that Slive is UNDERPAID…… and whose fault is that?

          • Just think, we could have doubled Slive’s salary and got him to be our commissioner instead of getting this poser who managed tennis.

          • I wouldn’t have minded have Slive as commissioner, but it didn’t quite work out that way, did it?

          • No we over paid as usual and now our games are on a network nobody watches and we still send our teams to loser bowls while the Big Ten, ACC and SEC laugh at us. Way to go Larry.

          • Larry is the scapegoat…..if he is that terrible for the Pac-12, then shame on the schools….

          • Scapegoat? He should have never brought Utah and Colorado in without the Texas schools and Oklahoma. That was his doing, being Mr. Wheeler Dealer. Now the moment has been lost and we are stuck with two weak sisters and a convoluted football conference that doesn’t play every team once and a basketball conference that doesn’t play every team twice.

          • Bringing in Texas A&M and Mizzou, getting his teams into the big money New Years Day bowls while we play the Vegas Bowl and other loser bowls, for a start.

          • And meanwhile, he condones the SEC schools oversigning players……interesting set of priorities….

          • You mean like us offering more players than there are scholies and stringing along the Baby QB until we can trade up? Interesting sense of morality there Garry Bleauz, it’s okay of we do it but bad if the SEC does it?

  2. Scottie: weren’t you complaining last year that Pac-12 media days were only one day and others, like the SEC, were multiple days?

  3. What a stacked conference for QBs. Hundley, Mannion, Kelly, Mariota – it’s like every school has a top QB but SC!

    • And THAT is precisely why anything LESS than a Pac-12 South championship by UCLA will be looked upon as an abject FAILURE!…in fact, UCLA are currently favored to win each and every game next season, with the exception of the game against Oregon…..
