Here’s John McKay on the sideline of the 1975 Rose Bowl between USC and Ohio State. Do those look like Nikes?

NOOOOOOOOO!!! they don’t, wolfman!!!!
buhhhhhhhh-BAM!!!!!!!!!
Bum bum Chucker Bucker…
What is this Bum Bum you so dearly speak of?
Yawn
They don’t look like Spot-bilts either genius. Who cares? Did McKay’s shoes affect his coaching? Shoes are shoes Scottie. Get over it and start covering current Trojan athletics. Give us some researched facts and insight for a change. Are you a part of the sanctions foisted upon USC by the NCAA?
Jesus man, let it go already.
That’s not Scottie’s style – and the scabs love him for that quirk.
Strike breakers love him?
Yeah, we’re TROLLS, not scabs. Was the old Cadre a union shop?
that’s why they call her Crazy Helen…
Reminds me of a line from an old Blake Edwards movie when a character calls a doctor a shyster, and the doctor replies “Madam, a shyster is a crooked lawyer! I am a quack!”
gotroy22 – Works for him
Hey wolf(aka bucket), does USC still have a football? You seem to have forgotten all about it
Nothing beats news like a man’s shoes, but as an aside, that game was for the national championship. Haden found J.K. Mckay for a touchdown in the closing minutes to close the deficit to 17-16. Coach Mckay, as was his custom, went for the win. Haden thought about running for the 2-point conversion, but at the last moment realized he was not going to make it, so he threw a lame duck pass to Sheldon Diggs who dug it out for the National Championship, 18-17
What a moment. A moment to treasure to end of time
Do you really believe that your rehash of those final minutes is more noteworthy than the brand of shoes being worn by JM? They looked like Vans to me.
Nice post!
I think they are actually a prototype for Sketchers.
Thanks for posting. I think Scott Wolf “underappreciated” that moment in time.
As an aside, it’s a little difficult to determine if those were Nike shoes or not. It’s a little far away to tell. Also, if I had a dollar for each pixel in that picture, I would probably have about 50 cents.
Good one!
That is why the image has black bars on each side. The photo is in mourning.
This is wan’s dummy cheap lies posting, because wan doan’t no good enquish. Iiss true wan? Doan’t splain, disappear down drain.
Nice recap john! But Wolfie could not do that as he was too focused on SHOES, geez.
Definitely Riddell’s. No question about it.
Back in the 70’s, bucket was sporting Kmart specials and loved them. The flashing blue light always made them look sweeter
Such a knee-slapper.
Is that Phil Knight on the grassy knoll?
He’s duck hunting….ouch!
C’mon…..watch the fowl language! 😉
I think I see a player wearing Pumas. Back then Puma was the cool swoosh which I always thought Nike was mostly copying when they came on the scene, but Nike turned out to have all the big ideas.
I’m betting Scott was a Puma man. Although he would have looked hunky in Adidas Gazelles and his short soccer shorts.
Don’t forget the baId head and boiler, now you’re spot on
Maybe Scott is looking at this all wrong maybe the Nike shoes are a symbol of the fact that during his tenure John had Oregon under his feet. Or maybe it is an allusion to his connections to Oregon I doubt it would be there if it wasn’t okay.
Yet another non-dispostive photograph. Are you mocking your own thread, Scottie? If so, I admire the self-deprecation.
Could somebody please explain what a national championship in football is to Bucket and the gang? Lets get an 8 clap and towel wave for the Bucket and envy clan.
I just read something where “BIC” has approached the U.S.Gov’t about getting rid of that energy wasting torch at the Statue of Liberty and replacing it with a more efficient BIC Lighter. If there’s $$$$$$ involved, it could be a good idea.
