Picture Of The Day

USC shut out Notre Dame, 13-0, in 1932 as the Trojans won a second straight national title. Between 1928-32, USC and Notre Dame won every title. Maybe USC can put in a replica clock like the one above the scoreboard when it renovates the Coliseum.

Remember 2011 USC Shut out F UCLA.. 50-0.

    • UCLA Bleauz

I was at that game with my youngest daughter……It was her very first USC game and what a romp it was….

      • so this clock ran backwards….PERFECT for Yesterday U!!!

        • Name

The clock counts down the quarter. 15 minute clock.

    • gotroy22

Those were the days my friend, we thought they’d never end…

      • UCLA Bleauz

Are you going Mary Hopkin on us?

Once upon a time, there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours,
Think of all the great things we would do………

        • gotroy22

          I’m glad SOMEBODY got that!

That song was always haunting to me, partly because it seemed so melancholy. But the end of it can be interpreted optimistically because I think it was wrong: “Oh my friend we’re older but no wiser. For in our hearts the dreams [starry notions] are still the same
Because they kept their dreams alive I would argue that they ARE wiser.

    • Then is then and now is now. SUCCurs can’s help living the past. Gosh BM, remember the 1928 UCLA/SUCC game. Yes Wally, those were the wonderful days of zero west coast FB competition.

Well BM, remember 2013, UCLA bit*h slapped SUCC 35 – 14 @ the Crumbling Mausoleum. SUCC’s defeat was worse than the score indicates. The snap of SUCC linemen broken ankle bones was tingling. UCLA owns LA football.

      • UCLA Bleauz

        They don’t OWN….. they rent………

        • Ding ding.

          • UCLA Bleauz

            “Ding ding = “yawn”

          • Doris, blews responded in less than 30 seconds – a new ding, ding record. Doris please notate his record on blews’ progress notes. He is our best lab sample!

      • Ray Reyes

2013 is in the past too.

If you have a problem with the history lessons.. you should go see WANG!
        3 wins in 15 Years… Slow 8 clap!

  • Violet

I think I see the Slender Man standing there.

  • Go Tama

And in 1932, the surrounding area was safe to walk in even at night.

    • NOBSisdaMAN

Until YOU and your ilk moved in.

      • Go Tama

You mean knee grows or illegals ?

        • TrojanLights

          You racist rascal you.

          • NOBSisdaMAN

            You 99%er you..

        • NOBSisdaMAN

          What are Knee grows?

    • TrojanLights

Odd, I have lived in the area for 60 years and have never been afraid to take a stroll at night.
Its a matter of being aware of ones surroundings regardless of where you live. Also respect others and they will respect you in the area.

I just notice that clock must have run counter clockwise. The official time was kept on the field as it is now. As one cant get a real accurate time with that clock as one could get with the digital now aday.

  • Yale O. Leftwich

the 15 minute clock ran clockwise,it reset for 15mins for each quarter when the 15 mins expired, both hands were on zero at the start and at the end…it was fairly accurate and yes official time was kept on the field;nice old picture of a time many decades ago.

  • john wolcott

I recall the first time I set foot in the coliseum as a 6 year old (and no, ageist Ugly Bucket, it was not the year 1932), and being afraid to venture down those steep steep stairs until I realized i would not tumble down 90 flights to the turf below

The old lady still has charm although she is showing a few wrinkles these days. But the memories– 1962 National Championship season; 1964 victory over No. 1 ND; 1967 SUCLA game and National Championship; 1969 SUCLA win and undefeated season; 1972 National Championship; 1974 ND game and National Championship; 1978 National Championship; 1979 loss to Stanford to lose National Championship etc etc

  • ThaiMex
