World Cup Talk

The Netherlands defeat Brazil, 3-0, as the host nation goes down in flames with another porous performance. A big tournament for the Netherlands, which finished third, well above expectations. And now the big one, Argentina v. Germany.. Who do you like? I like the Germans, well rested and full of confidence but I don’t think it will be easy.

The Germans will take it all tomorrow.

    Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,
    Über alles in der Welt

I say it will be 1-1 after 90 minutes, 1-1 after 120 minutes and then the Germans win it all with a “thrilling” 5-4 penalty kick advantage.

I will read about it in the papers and save 2 1/2 hours of viewing the thing

            RI or CA?

    • Germans invading the Upland Trailer park??

Nubsie we may be forced to form an Alliance!!!

      O for Ontario!!!

  • Juan Carlos

Why is finishing third place “well above expectations” when they finished second in the last world cup?

    • marvgoux1

Because the team has changed over the last 4 years?

      • Juan Carlos

Good point. However, every team has changed over the last 4 years. So with that logic, many team’s results were “well above expectations”.

I think Scott Wolf may have been referring to the Netherlands’ relatively low ranking entering the tournament.

    • Trogan Fan

The same way 8-4 would be well above expectations for SC football next year!

      • Juan Carlos

        No. They are different.

  • wolfman, you haven’t been wrong YET!!!

If you say GERMANY, the Cadre will take that to the BANK!!!

I wonder if Nubsie’s uncle Mengele will be in attendance…but who will he pull for, Germany or his adopted Argentina??
