The much-discussed USC-Alabama is now official and will take place Sept. 3, 2016 in Arlington, Texas. USC moved its home game against New Mexico on that date to Sept. 19, 2020, at the Coliseum.
“At USC, we have always tried to schedule as many outstanding non-conference opponents as possible because we believe that should be part of the experience our players get when they come here,” USC coach Steve Sarkisian said. “The Trojans versus the Crimson Tide in Arlington will certainly be such a game.”
Two years hence – hope Saban is still there but can any of us imagine were Kiffin to assume the helm? Not likely but Lane should still be there in 2016.
‘Neutral Site’ game – DFW is 15 miles from Arlington – easy direct flight from LAX and same for AL fans (Memphis to DFW).
Cowboys Stadium is cavernous and their video board is enormous!…….Our freshmen, sophomores and next years recruiting class should be very excited about this opportunity…..Max Browne will be a Redshirt Junior then, unless RIcky Towne wins the QB position…and our new O-Linemen and DB’s should be well developed by then, too….

He just may be……the team should have enough depth and experience by 2016 to handle a schedule that tough…. if not, then they don’t deserve to be in the playoffs anyway….

Can “big game” Pete come back to coach this one game? I don’t have a lot of faith in Sark going up against Saban.

Maybe, USC’s last massive OOC under PC was OH St. @ Columbus – Barkley’s finest effort and it moved the SEC to never schedule USC as an OOC i.e. TX A&M two years ago backingout of the H/A games with USC.
Give Saban credit – he is on the record of wanting to play 9 in-conference, he has no liking towards Spurrier nor towards Meyer and (I know this cuts against the grain) bluntly admired Kiffin going after Myer when the former was at TN.
if Saban hadn’t failed in the NFL then we might have seen a Carroll vs Saban matchup.
On the same day as the USC / Bama game. Both Big Rivals, Notre Dame will play Texas and F UCLA will play Texas A&M…

That wouldn’t be a bad idea…..and only slightly better than a lame Thursday night or Friday night game…
I would love to see both the Bruins and Trojans score victories over the SEC. It will be tough to pull it off as both games are in Texas, but what a showcase for both teams.
I agree…. not only is it a showcase, but it provides both teams with an opportunity to continue to tap into the fertile Texas market and recruit some of their local HS football players…..
And is good for strength of schedule with the playoff system. SC should be strong in 2016 as they will really be back to full strength and the Bruins are recruiting well too…as long as we don’t lose Mora. It would be nice to have 2 Top 10 teams in LA. That’s how it should be IMO. Then…a victory really matters.
The rivalry deserves both teams to be highly ranked…The more there is on the line, the more meaningful and sweet the victory…….it would be the hottest ticket in town….

Well save for Notre Dame most OOC’s are played early in the season because of conference commitments – that’s the problem but yeah it would be smarter for all if there was one major national inter-conference OOC match-up every week especially in November leading up to the conference CG.

Then to regain SUCC’s mojo that SUCCster’s love to brag about, SUCC has scheduled Alabama, for September 2016 at the Jerry Dome. Sark SUCC FB, in all likelihood, will have to start a rookie QB w/o a lick of SUCC game experience, agin Alabamy. Many SUCC mistakes will ensue.
The question is, will the Alabama game in 2016, kick start SUCC’s lackluster recruiting for 2014. UCLA will undoubtedly invite its major recruits to the Tixis game in Sept. SUCC Fight’s to catch up.
