Ben Wilson, shown going over the top of the line of scrimmage, was a powerful USC running back (1960-62) who played in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers. He started Super Bowl II for legendary coach Vince Lombardi. And he won a national title at USC when the Trojans won the 1963 Rose Bowl.
He was a great fullback, and along with Willie Brown made for a potent ground game…Nelson and Beathard passing game and their mobility combined to present great balanced offense.
I believe he was known as “Big” Ben Wilson
vs. Notre Dame in their throw-back shamrock uniforms? The way contrasting colors should be worn in all games.
