San Clemente Quarterback Sam Darnold Commits To USC

Quarterback Sam Darnold of San Clemente committed to USC. Darnold’s stock has risen all summer and he competed at the Elite 11 camp last week. He joines fellow Elite 11 quarterback Ricky Town as USC commitments.

  1. Well done Sark – hey just when is Mora et. al. going to announce anyone other than Rosen? An 80 yd. practice field, 20+ miles from your stadium, worst traffic is on the west side, parking is a you know what and rents? Kowabunga dude!

      • Oh yeah shades of 1998 – Cade McKnown! – he pulled the same stunt when he reported to the Bears training camp after the 1999 NFL draft.

        • Unfortunately they didn’t discover those antics until after McNown beat us 4 straight years,

          • You can stop saying “us”. It is well-known that you are not a Trojan fan nor did you attend USC.

          • It’s well known you aren’t a female but you do cross dress, and you down a bottle of gin before posting. Let’s celebrate your “great” prediction:

Headlines about USC firing Kiffin is a good thing. Everyone’s talking about what great coach USC is going to bring in. Doesnt sound bad to me.

          • but he works for the Daily News and Scott wolf.. So when he states “us”… he means the Daily News!

    • Man oh man are you right! The Westside does have a lot of traffic, parking issues and high rents and outrageous property values. It even extends to the South Bay. Pacific Palisades, Bel Air, Santa Monica and Manhattan Beach have some high rents and a lot of traffic. It’s quite simple really. They are nice places with a lot of demand. People want to be on the Westside. NOBs waxes poetic about his Manhattan Beach palace and belittles those that might live in the IE. These are tough problems to deal with, but we do the best we can in one of the nicest areas with one of the best climates in the world.

And UCLA is the most applied to school in the world in spite of all of the bad things you continually point out. Did you ever think you just might be missing something in your critique?

      • No I feel as that ‘demon’ did in ‘The Omen’ you know when it t was ordered to leave and replied “I like it here!” but I’m willing to (snicker) and watch…..

          • You’re right – no Riviera CC for me no boyo as for others well there it is……mind you nothing wrong with wealth – it’s what one does with it when one is fortunate enough to get it.

Love your nuanced ‘animus’ – it’s so west side quiche laden with the ‘de rigeur’ ‘chardonnay’….

For you ‘DM’ “Let’s go down to ‘bu’ (aka Malibu) and ‘rodger down’ on pilates next to the pier – then up on Topanga Cyn. and go ‘retro’ 70’s with all the burn out rock bands…McGovern man – you had to be there……ohhhhh where’s Jack our Jack…if only…..why?….Gone are the days……

    • You better go over to Wangs blog and get caufght up. They loaded up on OL and a RB in the last week.

      • Don’t confuse him with facts Marv. It will just throw off his party line. He is as flexible as Brezhnev. Both schools are doing well in recruiting. It bodes well for the rivalry.

Not much going on with Wang. He is covering the Donald Sterling trial. I wonder why they didn’t have Wolf cover that story.

        • My someone has their knickers in a bind….That reminds me of the ‘Brezhnev Doctrine’…”What’s ours is ours..what’s yours is up for grabs…”

Even accounting for Wolf’s constant posting the problem for UCLA is that they have so little in football history for Wang to even research.

I just love to see the near daily homages written about Scully – it’s like watching the apparatchiks yelling over each other with their identical hosannas at the 17th Congress of the Communist Party – Hoffarth, Plaschke, Simers (retired darn it).

          Toodles

    • All Mora has done is kick your behinds for the last two years….Maybe you knuckleheads should look into practicing on an 80 yd field…..You probably also think the Statue of John R. Wooden outside Pauley, should be redone and remove the rolled up program and replaced it with an ipad!!!!!
      fit Un Knuckleheads!

  2. Congratulations!
You posted this before USC football…but after WeRSC (What’s new
    Pussycat?).
Time will certainly tell on this one. Perhaps we are trying to corner the market on QBs? Wonder if his 3* status will elevate to 4*. Outside of Jefferson, the Rivals rating of 5.6 is the lowest of all our commits. What’s next? Will Sark get Rosen to flip? I’m being facetious mainly because I did not see it coming. Guess we go with the flow unless Sark demonstrates otherwise. The move appears to guarantee a Tx down the road. I know, I know…it’s a business. Certainly above my pay grade.

    • He’s a 4* now. Good showing at the Elite 11 he’s in the ESPN 300 and most the others have in there top 250 as well. A lot if up side, but needs development.

    • It’s hardest to forecast the QB position. Look at Alabama. Every year, they have recruited highly ranked QB
prospects, and from what I have read, the favorite to start in 2014 is a
new transfer from FSU. IMHO, a QB who really
works out is worth twice as much as any other player who really works out. Add to
that the contrasting styles between Town and Darnold, and the fact that Darnold was just observed by Sark and Helton at USC’s camp, and the offer makes sense to me.

Plus, transfers may perform a service. At some point, you have so many
QBs on the roster that a great recruit might just select a different
school. Might that happen in 2015? As you say, above my pay grade.

Darnold has inner confidence: he committed after Town outperformed him at The Opening, even with Town’s injury issue. Per Biggins’s quotes, Darnold also has common sense: he wants to live in So. Cal, and he knows that the USC degree has demonstrable market value here.

    • Why stop at deux? Kessler/Browne/Greene(one of my personal favorites)/Rickey Bobby/Darwold…part cinq. More is better.

      • Because we have to wait and see how bad this one ends before I can make more bad sequels… .

    • Mr. Browne, former 5 star, can’t miss QB, watches his SUCC career trajectory plummet out of his control onto the end of SUCC’s QB bench.

      • Kinda like Matt “Twitter sensation” Barkley gets to sit on the bench for 2 more years.. .

        • I think not. Barkley has zero upside for Philadelphia. Sanchez has NFL experience at #2 QB and the Eagles can acquire an experienced third string back up for the NFL minimum. Barkely gets cut at the Eagles camp.

  4. Keep corralling them QBs Coach Sarkisian, the more the merrier!! you can afford to waste your scholies, you have 10 more to offer than a year ago!

  5. I do give Wolf credit for not accidentally writing “Sam Clemente” in this post. The threat-level for a classic Wolfism was high.

  6. Lots of “Trolls” here today ?

Good job Sark, Trojans on their way to the highest rated class in College Football !

Town will be 5-Star again halfway through the season, Donaldson will be close to that, 4 more 5-Stars in the waiting (At least!) and several current commits will also increase their rankings during their Senior season !

Now we “need” 11+ wins 2014 (Including Bowl game)and it will all fall into place…

    • I thought your 75 were better than our 85 yet 4 HCoaches managed to lose to ND and UCLA, ha!

      • Ummm I believe you stumbled on the reason we lost to both UCLA and Notre Dame – 4 H Coaches.

        • McFly anyone in there, SC was on coach #2 when they lost to ND/UCLA… .excuses. . ..excuses even after having the best 75!

          • Only a baby blue brewin would brag about 2 wins over a team with a depleted roster. Don’t ever forget, 50-0.

          • Bish paleezzz what are you a history major, “depleted roster” did you expect to play with all 75 players not that they would’ve helped. ..

          • Only a brainless rah rah would call Sark a “great” coach after 5 years of mediocrity at UW.

      • That’s your problem “SaferInWestwood”, you thought when every sane person knows “Idiots” shouldn’t “think” !

        Recommendation:

Conserve what “remaining” brain cells you have, you might need them when you’re in your “Twenties” !!

Oh, and “1” (For your continuing education, that’s the number “ONE”, something you and your B-Ruins will never be ! (Except in “Whining” and “Excuses” of course!)) more thing

        Stay with me, concentrate…

Stay indoors at night time when you think of “Trolling” around town, you might get raped ?

Besides that I hear that Leftwood ain’t such a bad place…

    • kessler, wittek, scroggins, browne and james boyd, will be joined by over rated under achieving wannabe rah rah’s like darn old and run out of town…
Heard Sarkiffians latest recruiting pitch is to tell recruits they will at least have a chance to play immediately at So Cal, and not at UCLA because the team is LOADED at every position…
      hahahahahahahahahahahahaha…
