Player Spotlight: Bob Klein

KLEINUSC tight end Bob Klein, shown blocking for O.J. Simpson in the 1968 Rose Bowl against Indiana, was a key member of that national championship team. Some of you might remember him more as the Los Angeles Rams tight end (1969-76) after being a first-round draft pick.

Do you prefer Five Guys or In ‘N Out?

        • UCLA Bleauz

In N Out……a California institution…simple menu, good milkshakes, clean facilities with no peanut shells all over the place, home of the first drive through fast food joint, great fries, and no A-1 Steak sauce!!! Who does that????

      • UCLA owns LA Football

        That’s pretty funny.

Klein was a great player and a staple in the Santa Monica community. He was a graduate of St. Monica HIgh School and active with St. John’s Hospital for many years. However, his daughter did attend Stanford.

Was at that game, sat under the clock. Indiana’s QB had a classic name, Harry Gonso. Last time Indiana has been in the RB.

In 1966 at Miami I recall Klein got his leg broken by Ted “The Stork” Hendricks soooo in 1968 at the Coliseum USC got Hendricks in a ‘bookend’ and returned the favor

Greatest athlete I’ve ever met! You should have seen him play volleyball (and rugby)! BTW, I believe is was USC who broke Miami’s Rich Leon’s leg.
