Sarkisian Wants To Limit Major Injuries

Steve Sarkisian noted this week that USC had 19 season-ending injuries last season and Washington had only one.

“You look at sports science right now and recovery is so critical to the body and the success,” he said. “We really invested in that a year ago at Washington. We had one season-ending injury a year ago at Washington. USC had 19. We were a no-huddle team a year ago, they were a traditional huddle team. So I think there are things we can do to preserve our players to get the best out of them.”

So does Kenny Bigelow’s knee injury count as one for next season in Sarkisian’s calculations?

  1. So, Sark will install a new multiple option offense, that includes no-huddle play calling by an old huddle type QB, and rebuild dubious O-Line so it can operate in a brand new no huddle, new offense environment.

  2. Inside info on Nubsie…He’s not doing well…as a matter of fact I just heard this from a reliable source. Nubsie is in the Hospital and about to pack it all in..Last night he asked his nurse to be a witness to his will. His wife, Daughter and Two sons are bedside. So…he says to them, CLAUDE, I want you to take the Beverly Hills houses, Hortense, take the apartments over in Los Angeles Plaza, Luther, I want you to take the offices in City Center, Dumpling, my dear wife, please take all the residential buildings downtown. The Nurse is blown away by all this, as Nubsie slips away, she says…Mrs. Nubsie..Your husband must have been such a hardworking man to have accumulated all this property. Mrs. Nubber replies..Property Schmoperty? The SOB has a paper route!.
    fit Un NUBSIE!

    • LAME!

PS….3am and STILL trolling the blog talking sh*t. Dude, you have some serious isues

    • This pretty much sums up what you are doing with your life. What a meaningless existence you lead.

      • Poor Golly-Nerd! Don’t be so depressed. Just because you slipped and fell on the slick floor at the San Diego Comic Con Convention chasing after Ben Affleck for at autograph at the panel discussion for “Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice” and tore your Wookie outfit, knocking you out of the Best Costume contest is no reason to be so despondent.

        • You even know the name of a movie that’s just in production! I bet you have an opinion on the casting decisions too! You must look sooooo cute when you cosplay!

          • CowPolyFan3.0/TrojanFamily/Wisdom, you look so cute when you post here to please wifey!

    • Well one thing’s for sure, Nubsie is still reading wolfman’s blog probably several times daily!!! (I would too, if I were you Nubsie!!!)

Nubsie, the Karma Chameleon has reared up and taken a big damp bite outta your can!!!! How does it feel? And of course, this isn’t OVER Nubsie….you took the Cadre’s advice and disappeared, BUT you forgot the apology…. we’re waiting.

      The Cadre NEVER FORGETS.

As the Stones sang: tiiiiiiiime is on our side, YES IT IS!!

  3. I found this by far the most important statement made by Sark.

Was it sincere? Is USC doing something different?

I don’t know. But I like that Sark is talking about it.

  4. So true, Scott, so true. I always knew you were right about Kiffin and the rah rahs were wrong. Please connect the dots already and prove he is to blame for the tumult in the Mid-East and Ukraine.

    • Poor Golly-Nerd…you came so close to winning Best Star Wars Costume until your Wookie outfit tore at the seat when you ran up to get Ben Affleck’s autograph and slipped and fell on the slick convention arena floor at the Batman vs Superman panel discussion.

  5. has more to do with proper S&C, but Kiff was indeed a master at ending careers.

  6. Wow, the ladies are out in full force today. Here is towel wave and 8 clap for the crew.

    • Forget fiction, there was a truly terrifying incident outside Comic-Con! FlameOn and Layla were busy discussing the new Wonder Woman character played by Gal Gadot during the annual Zombie walk when a car careened toward them. Poor FlameOn was struck and was hospitalized with a possible broken arm. ZombieWalk, is an annual event at Comic Con in which people like FlameOn, Layla, BM and Golly-Nerd dress as the undead — complete with blood and gore — and stagger down a street. The driver was identified as a distraught former poster on Inside USC.

      • Thanks for the Comic-Con updates! It’s so nice to have someone on the inside report on each of the events. While I generally don’t care what happens there, I have to appreciate someone with the level of passion, knowledge, and commitment to the event to get this much information.
        Well done!

        • Don’t thank me, CowPolyFan3.0 sock puppet, thank the Associated Press. FlameOn’s accident was international news!

          • Oh don’t be so modest. No one on the planet knows more about comic con and sock puppet fantasies more than you! Own your expertise! We all have one thing in life we’re good at. Yours is your undying commitment to comic-con!

          • Nobody knows being a sock puppet more than you TrojanFamily/CowPolyFan3.0/Wisdom! Being whipped is the one thing in life you are good at, rooting for a school you never attended to please wifey.

          • Dont act like you arent obsessed with all things Comic Con. You know way more about what goes on there than anybody here.

          • FlameOn, who is writing your posts for you while you are recuperating from that broken arm you suffered at the Zombie Walk?

    • Flameon won’t be doing any swinging and missing for awhile. There was a truly terrifying incident outside Comic-Con! 7. Would be great if we can reduce the season ending injuries to anything close to what Washington had. Whatever methods they used we need to bottle up and install.

i noticed on another blog a poster mentioned that Wash players say their new coach Petersen is pushing them much harder than Sarkisian did last season in drills. On the other hand Sark has been putting the USC kids thru a set number of mins practice 90 mins or 120 mins full speed. So they have set limits and mentally know when to exhale. Maybe by that procedue the muscles react without letting down during long exhusting workouts leading to injuries.

    • This week’s Times ran an article of the number of players arriving early at the track stadium for morning drills. They were doing the same last year and previous but the writer noted there is a much larger percent showing up – USC coaches are not permitted to have any input or presence – it bodes well for when real practices begin this coming week.

  8. If the Toejams continue to play like a bunch of PU$$IES like they have the last few years, that should reduce the number of injuries to their team.

    • If the always-the-bridesmaid bruins continue to play like the bunch of loser underachievers the little gutties have always shown themselves to be, they will once again fail to win even a simple conference championship.

  9. If the Toejams continue to play like a bunch of PU$$IES like they have the last few years, that should reduce the number of injuries to their team.

  10. A lot of injuries are happening simply while players are running and cutting. ACLs are taking down players and practice has not even started yet. Very sad. It would seem that despite knee braces etc the stress that players are putting their knee joints through is simply too much. Maybe it is putting so much weigh on the knee; it wasn’t that long ago that 250 lbs was considered a good size for a lineman. Maybe they should develop a test to see if someone has enough knee joint stability to play the game. Most players in their college career will get some type of injury, many of which will last a lifetime, especially joint injuries.

  11. HEY!! what happened to Wahhhn Carloads?? we NEED an influx of POSITIVITY on this blog!! with the destruction of Nubs, this could lead to a NEW ERA of peace and HARMONY!!!

won’t SOMEONE pick up the torch that Wahhhn dropped, and try to RAISE the level of CIVILITY on this blog???

    #YouAreNice

    wait a minute…….NUBS was Wahhhhn?????

  12. Leonard Williams mentioned an increased number of reps contributing to wear and tear and eventually injuries. Whether the two are related, who knows. It does make sense though.
