Morning Buzz: `There’s Only One USC’

Here’s a radio interview I did with Mitch Evans of 92.9 in Atlanta talking about USC heading into the season. At the end Evans mentions that in the South, South Carolina is also known as USC. “There’s only one USC,” I responded.

  1. These out-of-towners have no idea that the last person you want to talk to regarding USC football is Scottie. It is really sad, but ever since his practice banning Scottie has been completely disconnected from USC football.

    • He knows a lot more about what’s going on with USC football than you do. It’s easy to be the student in the class and to claim you can do better than the teacher when all you really do is interrupt and whine.

    • TWO THINGS I ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT STAND.. Scott Wolf’s voice, and Scott Wolfs physical appearance…
      I’ll skip the audio interview.

      • I have to agree. He whines way too much and it’s annoying! No man should carry that constant tone of voice.

        • He always sounds bored and like it’s a huge burden to answer simple questions……..

  2. University of Santa Clara, University of South Coast plaza, etc! Typical SC math!

    • The private Catholic university in the Bay Area changed its official name to Santa Clara University. Thus it is SCU.

      • That is true. i think Santa Clara received a little cash to make the change from USC. SCU is also a fine school.

          • Many schools are strong in one area of study. In the PAC-12, I would say ASU may be the weakest. Not a fan of Pepperdine. UCLA and USC are rated #23 in the nation. Santa Clara is rated as a “regional” university and is #2 in the West. Most of the UC’s are rated quite highly, including UCSB, UCSD and UC Davis.

Graduate school is becoming more and more important in school choice. Undergrad is becoming like high school used to be.

          • Which he virtually stole word for from Virginia State Constitution, authored by, I’m taking a shot here, Edmund Randolph.

  3. There is only one USC. Scott is correct. The South Carolina university is “public” just like UCLA so there are mutliple in the state (8 campuses listed on their website plus an online program). UCLA is a part of the public education university system here in CA so it seems like they have more in common…. just sayin’

    • Speaking of “common”, many schools in the UC system apparently share the same official fight song namely UCLA, UC Berkeley, University of California, Riverside, University of California, Santa Barbara, University of California, Irvine and UC Davis…..

  4. “UCLA has beat USC the last couple of years which, to UCLA fans, is the the top of the world.”

    Nice dig, Scott.

To USC fans, beating UCLA is expected.

    • You hit the nail on the head – beating UCLA and Notre Dame is expected at USC – every year. Two victories for UCLA and they’re sitting on top of the world.

      • FYI Helen, Brett Hundley is featured on the West Regional cover of Sports Illustrated’s FB issue. The National cover and other regional covers feature NFL Running Backs. Brett looks ready to punk SUCC again – piece of cake, can of corn.

    • The decade before Mora, Bruins were terrible. Of course UCLA was ecstatic to beat the Trojans. I was happy if they were just competitive. But times, they are a changin.

      • The decade before Pete, the Trogans were terrible. Happy to beat UCLA after 8 years of beatings.

  5. wolfman, you STILL stick up for these Dummies, even though they have little respect for the AWESOME job you do….forget it wolfman, the CADRE still has your back!!!!
