  1. After what Petersen did with Boise State, why WOULDN’T he generate some respect, Scottie?…….and it’s not as if Sark left the cupboard bare and without talented players when he left Washington…….

    • I think Scottie’s remark was meant to diss USC for not hiring Petersen.

Petersen has generated so much respect that high schoolers are flocking to UW; they have 8 commits worth 547 Yahoo Sports points while USC has 13 commits and 1625 points.

          • Sorry…. maybe you’re right……Wolf countless negative posts have conditioned me to be a bit more cynical than normal…

          • All he’s saying is that Washington cracked the top 25 in this poll with a first year coach. We’re 15 for crying out loud. Not to shabby considering our brand new coach and sanction-riddled program the last several yrs.

      • Nice, Red’s hat size increased 1 mm. SUCC’s cupcake schedule doesn’t include U-Dub, so Red decides to diss U-Dub recruiting seven (7) months prior to LOI signing day.

        • Just like a true scab – confused by facts and respond with personal attacks.

          • What whinny baby Red. Today, Rick Wade, recently offered by SUCC, committed to UCLA. So Red, what’s the recruiting point spread now between SUCC and UCLA? Tell the truth now, and Red don’t forget, UCLA owns LA Football.

    • We’ll see how he ultimately recruits. That will determine the outcome.

We know that USC’s recruiting has been hurt by the resurgence of UCLA and Stanford. Now Cal has replaced its AD–mostly with one thing in mind. There is only so far they will fall behind Stanford and keep smiling.

The Cal-4 of the Pac-12 are simply better universities, in better locations, with growing ambitions. All the population in the West is HERE. There is a trickle down affect from all that, and Washington is likely to feel it.

      • I agree with the Cal 4 with the exception of the Bears. The Cal schools are the best 4 academic schools, however Cal is a long ways away from building the football program. Washington has a much longer and better football tradition than Cal and it is the next best academic school after all 4 California schools.

Football-wise, the Huskies are the #2 team in the league historically, slightly ahead of #3 UCLA. With Petersen coaching, I think they are positioned well-ahead of the Bears.

        • Who was the great coach that couldn’t get it done at UCLA? My impression was that a great coach was out of reach given UCLA’s budget for football. Now, everyone has the budget, and more schools have strong coaches and better facilities.

I understand Peterson’s stature. But he has to get equivalent recruits to the CA schools and Oregon (the great anomaly because of Nike, and the legacy of Kelly).

Peterson’s challenge is that the population imbalance is significant. He will not be able to succeed by winning Washington State recruiting, or Washington and Oregon recruiting. So that’s the question, can he draw a lot of the top CA kids north, or not? IMHO, that was easier in years past than it is now. I’m not saying that he won’t succeed in CA recruiting; I’m saying that he won’t win if he doesn’t.

  2. Forget this – I’m more interested in the fate of our once famous SC poster NOBS! Who was he and why, all of a sudden, did he disappear?

    • I’m more interested on where goatroy22 ran off to. I miss hearing about all of his fantasies at Comic Con.

  3. When was the last time that Michigan wasn’t in the Top 25 preseason rankings?

  4. 6 Pac-12 coaches w/ votes in the poll: Steve Sarkisian, Chris Petersen, Mike Leach, Mike MacIntyre, Mike Riley, Rich Rodriguez…..opponent coaches Tim DeRuyter (Fresno State) and Brian Kelly (Notre Dame) also have a vote in the Coaches Poll.

  5. Washington should easily be 4-0 going into Stanford on Sept. 27th. Thanks to the schedule not the HC.

  6. Hey congratulations! The gutty little Trojans cracked the top 20.

  7. OMG wolfman, what a stealthy thumb in the eye of the trOXans!!!

    very impressive start for Peterson!!!!

now you Dummies know why they were dancing in Seattle when they got Peterson and they were asking WHY? at Southern Cal
