Position Switches

Steve Sarkisian said last week there really were not any definite position switches. He acknowledged Anthony Brown will play some running back but said he had not decided if it was full time. Today, D.J. Morgan said he will play cornerback.

These are great little talking points in July. But how difference do I think this will make during the season: Almost none.

The 1963 Playboy All-American Team

That’s USC wide receiver Hal Bedsole (19) and two-time All-American lineman Damon Bane (64). I’m running this picture mainly to spotlight Bame, who deserves to be in the USC Hall of Fame.

He was on the 1963 national championship team besides being a two-time All-American and was twice named USC lineman of the year. Bame was also a two-time all-conference selection.

A Slight Radio Change

I hear that USC radio analyst Paul McDonald will not be back for this season. McDonald took last year off to watch his son play at New Mexico State and planned to return this year. But John Jackson, who did a nice job last year, will be the radio analyst this season.

Pauley Pavilion Flooded

A 36-inch water main break on Sunset Blvd. caused major flooding at UCLA affecting Pauley Pavilion, the Morgan Center, the Wooden Center and Drake Stadium, according to reports. And maybe worse, there are large underground parking garages also flooded where people left their cars that look completely deluged. More photos here

UPDATED: At least five people were rescued from the parking garages.
