USC Morning Buzz: Trojans Considered Bringing Back Tight End Junior Pomee

Junior Pomee was dismissed from the football program last year by Lane Kiffin. USC considered bringing him back, which would have helped alleviate the shortage at tight end. Details here

  1. Not a bad idea…..too bad about his academics, but hopefully he will land somewhere else and be productive…..oh, and for all you trolls…. THE FELONY CHARGES WERE DISMISSED!!!!!

      • You are 100% correct…….and, on the flip side,if you honestly believe that there aren’t people currently in prison who have been wrongfully convicted, then I have some waterfront property in Westwood that I’d like to sell you… oh, wait,… never mind

    • yeah, that makes it all better. UCLA kicked 3 stars out for lifting a purse. They booted White for what amounted to be no felony charge last season too. If “felony” is the cutoff for what’s ok and what’s not on SC’s team, that’s cool. Thug ON!

      • Hey, if UCLA wants to pi$$ on the Constitution of the United States, I suppose that’s their business…..

        • HAHA. Now that’s a Trogan education for you. Every athlete (clear you weren’t one) knows that they’re held to behavior standard above and beyond the average American citizen. In fact, Pomee’s scholarship papers were VERY clear about expected behavior standards. So, again, if felony is where SC draws the ok behavior line, THUG ON!

          • Way to deflect away from the point, once again, Rogaine Fan……I am well aware of the double standard that ALL football players at ALL major universities seem to enjoy, especially the star players, including last years Heisman Trophy winner…you don’t have to be an athlete to know this, but nice try at taking a dig at me from behind the safety of your computer….and It’s not just Pomee, as even YOU should know………

          • so wait, am I p*ssing on the Constitution for wanting to see kids held to standards or not? That was your post. Which is it? Is SC going to be a school that lets kids by as long as they don’t actually get convicted of felonies? Man, that would make me SO proud as an alum!

          • The charges against Pomee were dropped, no?… he has Constitutional rights, as do other people who reside in the USA, no?….And you want kids held to whose standards? YOURS? … the schools?….and it’s UCLA who was p*ssing on the Constitution, if what you said before was even true…”They booted White for what amounted to be no felony charge last season too”….Ever hear of due process?….I suppose that they have the ability to boot any kid off the team for whatever arbitrary standards they choose to establish…

          • Is it ok to be charged with felony counts if you’re not ultimately convicted? One might argue that better behavior should be expected from scholarship athletes, but I guess not at SC. And tell me, what part of the constitution guarantees a football scholarship? At the end of the day, Mora kicked a kid off for poor behavior, even though he wasn’t ultimately convicted of a felony. He smacked his girlfriend though – which I guess in your book is fine. That’s cool – thugs have always felt welcome at Fig Tech!

          • once more – what part of the constitution guarantees a scholarship? Show me, please, how pulling a kid’s ride after he punches his girlfriend violates the due process clause.

          • And exactly where did I state that it did?…. Once again, you PROVED my POINT!…..Selective reading at its finest, ladies and gentlemen….

          • a few posts up: “and it’s UCLA who was p*ssing on the Constitution, if what you said before was even true…’They booted White for what amounted to be no felony charge last season too’….Ever hear of due process?….I suppose that they have the ability to boot any kid off the team for whatever arbitrary standards they choose to establish…”

            There you go, champ.

And to be clear, outside of particular athletic behavior requirements, SC’s Student Code, Section 11, calls out what’s impermissible from students. Theft, physical harm etc. are all there. No mention of a felony requirement what so ever. Thug on!

          • And you read that as me saying that the constitution guarantees athletes to a scholarship???….okay, chump….what we have here is a failure… to COMMUNICATE! and thank you for making the effort to remind all of us about the USC Student Code……hate on, dolt

          • really? So you’re suggesting that UCLA denied White due process and “p*ssed on the Constitution” how then? This I gotta hear!

          • A few posts up, “once more – what part of the constitution guarantees a scholarship?”…… no where….end of discussion, Putz

          • It’s like talking to a, well, Trogan. To violate a constitutional right, there needs to be an actual right to violate. So then, what? Please tell me – how did UCLA p*ss on his constitutional rights?

          • “All I can tell you is he is no longer with the team,” Mora said, per the Associated Press.

White was arrested last November on suspicion of sexual assault, and given an indefinite suspension immediately afterwards. Mora offered no further details regarding White’s departure.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office told the AP that White’s case remains open.”

I’m sorry…. you were right…I was wrong…. this sounds like due process to me…

          • fail. the term “due process” actually means something specific. Kicking a kid off a football team for behavior does not require a full criminal proceeding to take place, nor does it take a full investigation by the DA. What’s hard about this? But your post brings me back one more time – are you suggesting SC only kick players off if they’re actually convicted of a felony?

          • “Kicking a kid off a football team for behavior does not require a full criminal proceeding to take place, nor does it take a full investigation by the DA.” ..so no due process required, thus none provided. And no.

          • You just got OWNED!!!! BOOM , ROASTED!
Repeat these words ….”Welcome to Jack in The Box, May I have your order!”
            fit Un Knucklehead!

          • have you ever heard of Carmen Trutanich? he is the inside connection inside the DA’s office, Carmen Trutanich has been the one to get every Trojan off the hook following an arrest through out the years. some of the miracles he’s performed are 5 USC players arrested for rap, and all those players got off the hook, charges were dropped. I wonder if you or I would be as lucky having charges dropped just like that, haha!!! my guess is nope!!!

          • Who needs “The Strain?” Watching you two guys go back and forth is much more entertaining, Bleauz and Trogan!

  2. The ESPN Pac12 blog ranked the all time top 10 Pac10 seasons for individual players.
USC secured #1,2,4 & 6 with Marcus Allen, Leinart, Charles White and Reggie Bush respectively.
Guess how many UGLY bRUINS made the list?

      • Showing your age Comrade….to pull Billy Bolden’s name out of the past. Your knowledge of Bruin football runs deeper than one would expect of a Trojan.

        • Don’t penalize someone just because they are a fan of the best inter-city rivalry in the country…..and someone who also has an excellent recollection of the past and the history between these two storied teams….well, at least one of them is storied………

        • Probe that classic USC vs UCLA 1967 game – Beban poured everything into that legacy ridden game w. damaged ribs – he came off the field for just a chance of some relief only to have Bolden go in for 1 down and then be what Bolden always was – a literal momma’s boy – momma was on the bench at one practice.

          • I didn’t remember Bolden in that game, but it was 1 play and I was a kid. I do remember him playing QB later in a dreadful season. I prefer to remember super sub Norman Dow.

          • He was in it and it was unbelievable watching him (Bolden) holding his head after one lousy play and scampering to the sidelines – Beban was in real pain. Prothro was livid but Billie wasn’t going back – uh uh – no way.

As I recall Dow had already graduated having pulled off that memorable victory coming off the bench, the previous year 1966 and the week preceding the 0 – 51 massacre at the hands of Notre Dame.

BTW that is no lie – Bolden’s mother was on the sidelines on the bench at one of his (Bolden’s) practices.

          • Well….you have an outstanding memory. By the way, Prothro was a GREAT football coach. He has never gotten the credit he deserves.

    • One, Gary Beban @ #7. An excellent choice, but FoV, he can’t play TE for SUCC either.

        • How did OJ not get in there? One of the great seasons of all time in either 1967 or 1968. He was acquitted of the murders…so that can’t be the reason. And Bush was ineligible and caused USC a lot of pain. Interesting list. No other school had more than one.

    • Thats because UCLA football started 2 years ago, and now F UCLA runs LA Football? Weird!

  3. well, at least they TRIED (to bring back the guey with FIVE felony counts)!!

i guess O’Hadden wasn’t whistling DIXIE when he declared that it’s all about ACADEMIC SUCCESSwith El Siete!! (ethics, not so much!!)

  4. So they tried to bring him back because they wanted to give a worthy young man a second chance, and if he had taken his classes he would have been back this season?

Or was this just a rash attempt, born out of concern about injuries and the thin TE depth chart? Sark, is this the way you really want to start the season?

    • Don’t be so judgmental Violet! He was merely found passed out in an alley behind a fraternity with a bunch of Apple products that didn’t belong to him. Apparently, he didn’t use them to study or he would be back on the field.

      • In retrospect, I my comment might sound a bit harsh. Kids make mistakes, but the optics are not so great when Sark does this out of desperation. If, at the beggining of camp he said, “this kid deserves another chance and he has done everything right since this event” then I have no problem with him coming back at all. Personally it sounds like he has a ways to go on the road back. I wish him all the best.

        • I was being a bit sarcastic there, Violet. And yes, kids do deserve 2nd chances in some circumstances. However, they should have to earn that chance. It doesn’t sound as if this young man has figured it out yet. Perhaps he will.

    • Violet,

You seem strangely familiar. Did you do any acting when you were younger?

  5. Well as we can all see once more Wang has nothing enticing on the ‘other side’ of this website then again it is bel-air tech – heck even Scott would find it tough based on the historical ‘omerta’ cover-up of anything amiss over in Westwood.
