USC Morning Buzz: Josh Shaw Suspended Until When?

SHAW.2

Is this the end of the Josh Shaw story or is there more to come? The police still want to speak to him. He now has a big-time lawyer. The longer-term issue is how he gets his reputation back. And when he gets reinstated to the team. Some time around the week his ankles are healed, most likely, especially the way Pac-12 teams pass.

Here’s a recap of Shaw’s admission he lied about rescuing his nephew.

  1. Im completely flummoxed by this sitution. Is this a miniature variant version of Manti Teo’s catfish scenario or something? Who in their right mind contrives that type of lie? At least he has admitted his lie but now if he wants to be accepted, please tell the whole truth. He has a certain right to privacy but he brought the program into it so he should help by coming totally clean. If he cant for legal reasons, then no more football for him I say.

    • I agree. Shaw needs to make a big choice. Protect his privacy, which is certainly his right, and simply be excused from the team. Or come clean, completely explain what happened, take your lumps and hope for reinstatement down the road.

  2. After sleeping on this situation, I would be totally fine if Josh Shaw never plays another down for USC…..healthy ankles or not, he really needs to earn back the trust of the coaches and teammates, if that’s even possible…….time heals and this is still an open wound….

    • But was a true crime committed. Slap him on the wrist and get him back on the field

      • True crime or not, Shaw’s entered a new realm of existence as a USC football captain. He’s officially a national schmuck. The Trojans are now on every major morning news show for five minutes, daily. Forget the slap on the wrist. Give the younger kids a chance to play. Hopefully, Shaw stays out of jail. I’ll give him that. But the so-called hero doesn’t need to play for USC anymore. Maybe garbage time at the end of the year – unless he publicly comes clean and tells everyone what happened ending this relentless yet entertaining speculation, normally a course of action I would never recommend.

    • By all accounts he’s a good kid though. I hope he has a chance at redemption, but if I had a vested interest in the matter, Josh would have to come completely clean about his actions and intent. I don’t see that happening, but I’d have the kid’s back if it did.

      • I would have totally agreed with you, if he hadn’t hired a high powered attorney…..

        • Yeah, that bit has me flummoxed as well. It all just seems so far out of character for him that I really don’t know what to think. Oh well, six hours until TAMU-SCAR. At this point, I think we’ve heard all the “facts” we are going to about this case…..unless it’s something criminal. Time to move on.

          • On that, we can agree……..I like SCAR at home tonight…..one of the top defenses in the SEC….

          • After one particular kickoff play against us when Sumlin was at Houston, I will always root against that guy. I want nothing more than for the Ol’ Ball Coach (who has been amazing at SCAR) than for his boys to destroy the Aggies this afternoon.

FWIW, I always enjoy reasonable discourse with true fans, regardless of affiliation.

          • I’m with you…. friendly banter is one thing, but communications of any type with the trolls quickly deteriorates to personal attacks, vitriol and hyperbole….

        • Yeah, that bit has me flummoxed as well. It all just seems so far out of character for him that I really don’t know what to think. Oh well, six hours until TAMU-SCAR. 3. wolfman, as usual you are 15-20 moves AHEAD of everyone else!!! of COURSE the trOXans will let him come back DESPITE his failure to man up and tell the real truth and issue a real apology!!!

It’s the Southern Cal culture to try to squirm by the truth by hiding behind a sleazy lawyer!!

Keep up the GREAT JOB wolfman!!! we need your wisdom and integrity now MORE than ever in the face of such deceit and moral bankruptcy!!!

    #Ugh

    • Senior Cut-N-Paste is helpless until he can “cortar y pegar” his story from another source – more like 15-20 moves BEHIND everyone else!!!

  4. The story is that he was banging girlfriend’s roommate and she comes home. He goes out window neighbor sees him and calls the police. He jumps hurts himself and makes his way home. Neighbor describes him to police girlfriend says that sounds like my man. Shaw decides to go with story of saving nephew never thinking how the story would blow up like it did. Another case of the little brain getting a man in trouble.

          • Makes sense to me too. The criminal angle seemed like a huge stretch anyway. To be honest, I don’t care what actually happened, youthful stupidity has led to youthful mistakes for a majority of the population. I just want to know why the first instinct was to fabricate a hero story. To me, that is the only part of this whole thing that matters. Of course it’s pointless to wonder because we’ll never have an answer, but damn if It isn’t baffling.

        • It sure does. Shaw, SUCC FB Captain parlays tawdry sexx into into SUCC Cult Hero status.

      • Josh Shaw 20 year old who made huge mistake. UCLA owns LA Football low life, envious nerd who lives on board of opposing team. I think most people would choose the life of Shaw.

          • Assuming you spend some time on UCLA stories and information I’m sure you never get laid. Not enough hours in the day.

          • Brutal repartee. BTW timmy, you didn’t answer my previous thread question – well have you?

          • Yea, now i’ll say i’m banging your mom. You bring nothing and have nothing. I’m done with your tired self.

          • timmy the loser. Come on squeaky timmy, it must be thrilling for you to bang an old empty Bud bottle.

          • Tim, let me know when you’re finished with her as I have some friends that would like to take a crack (pun intended).

    • Nice story, Tim, but how does that explain the fact that the LA Times & NY Times reported that a window was tampered with and that LAPD is investigating a burglary?

      • In other words, Shaw was boosting his girlfriend’s apt. A very classy SUCC act for a SUCC FB Captain.

    • I have heard the same story. One problem. When the police broke into the apartment there was nobody there. Not the girlfriend. Not the roommate. A bit puzzling.

  5. Like Shaw, I too have a confession to make….

I regret having told a lie. It was wrong.

I wish to thank my Bunco Team for all their support, for which I’m am very appreciative.

Can we just move forward now?

    • Let me guess, you’re really the wolfman and Bunco is code word for the weird game the cadre plays up in the tree house

        • There is only one Dr. Phil and,I, am not Dr. Phil.

How can we move on if Violet does not come clean and admit her deceit?

I will not be able to rest as long as Violet’s Secret remains as such, like a burning coal in her bosom.

      • After consulting with my team (or the Bunco Squad, as I call them) I have decided to retain counsel.

We all know this blog is frequented by one of the most unethical, morally devoid, deviant attorneys with the intellect of an adolescent paint-huffer. So you-know-who is out.

No, I have retained the one counselor with the integrity, smarts and fortitude to handle this case. A man who is tough as nails but with soft hands and the voice of an angel.

Yes dear friends, I have retained the Law Offices of Nigel Tottenham to represent me in this matter. Please direct all inquiries of an inquisitive nature to his office. Thank you all, in advance, for your anticipated kind attention to this matter.

  6. Although he made a fool of many people (including himself and USC football), the only thing Shaw did was lie. This is on the same order as the lies told by 14 current or former UCLA football players in 1999 in a scam to illegally obtain handicapped parking passes. Nine UCLA football players pleaded no contest to illegally obtaining handicapped parking placards and were sentenced to fines, community service and probation. The school suspended those still on the team for the first two games of the season.

      • Says the idiot who trolls this blog 24/7 to feel better about himself, pathetic

          • They are addicts and the USC family should stop enabling them. You may be interested to know that the sponsors of this blog have recently been informed that our group of individuals and our companies will no longer be supporting them by purchasing their products and/or services and we have provided them with the annual dollar amount we have previously been spending with them, so that they will understand that the dollars they are spending here is actually costing them revenue.

          • The garbage written here is not an issue involving free speech, write whatever you wish. However Mr. Wolf do not call yourself “Inside USC,” when you are clearly anything but, and do not use the images of the Coliseum, the team, the fans, and colors unless you intend to be respectful and knock off the cheap shots.

          • UCLA owns LA Foozball – The face of a team that has to travel half way across town to play football. Is your baseball team still fighting with veteran’s by taking their land?

          • Boycotting the sponsors?….BRAVO!…….I, for one, have stopped going to the JetStrip and have taken my crisp single dollar bills elsewhere to make it rain… Fight on!

        • More proof of deficient thinking skills – I guess Red wants to advertise she’s a superior SUCC fool!

          • You like/went to UCLA, UCLA sucks at academics and sports, therefore you cannot judge other’s thinking skills – Plato

          • ”Hey hey, ho ho, parking cheats must go.”

These were the chants of Angelenos as they showed their clear preference for LA Football.

      • We don’t have to go back that far to remember three freshmen stealing computers and a kicker who got in an accident on the 405 and ran away from his date/girl friend who was hurt do we? Kids make mistakes be they be Trojans and little gutties.

        • And those 3 freshman were summarily dismissed from the team. One (Josh Shirley) found a home at UW and played for Sarkisian the very same year. Another (Paul Richardson) immediately found a home at Colorado and was an all-league receiver. The 3rd (Shaquille Richardson) escaped to Tucson and started as a DB for a few years. They were dealt with immediately and other schools eagerly grabbed them. So, yes kids make mistakes.

As far as the kicker, he saw another accident on the 405, and disregarding his own safety, pulled 3 kids from a burning car…yeah, yeah, that’s what he did. I guess the UCLA SID’s office wasn’t in a hurry to tell that story!

    • Yes Red, you are so right, there was a parking scandal at UCLA. But once again your deficient thinking skills cloud your neighing argument.

Not one of the guilty UCLA FB players lied, claiming hero status for rescuing their drowning nephews or nieces instead of owning up /telling the truth about their embarrassing petty crime.

Why does the ever so innocent Josh Shaw, mega SUCC HERO, need a heavyweight Attorney to hide behind. Why is it Sark, the SUCC screwball Head FB Coach can actually still say after all that ‘s gone down – “I don’t know squat!”

      • Oh contraire one of few brain cells, six UCLA football players lied about having undergone back surgery, another lied about being disabled by a herniated disk, three others lied about having bad knees, and another a broken ankle. Still another had contracted Bell’s palsy, a nerve disorder that causes facial paralysis (might explain the reaction after they lost the Rose Bowl that year). These lies hurt innocent disabled individuals from accessing parking designed for them. Josh Shaw’s lies hurt no one.

I know the UCLA scabs have a hard time digesting facts, but just think of these as a Five Guys burger.

        • you know, Helen, the “what about Billy?? he was tardy too!!” defense usually plays out with most people by 2nd or 3rd grade….this is Southern Cal’s big crisis management strategy?? get an atty and point at everyone else?

and people wonder how the Josh Shaws of the world get this way. it’s LEARNED behavior.

          #You’reNotHelping

        • this was the same “they’re doing it too” defense that clown college fans used with sanctions. How’d that turn out?

  7. The problem is that, now that this has become a national news story, this will continue to fester until he reveals all.

Assuming he was not doing something illegal, I would say a fair punishment would be for him to sit out 1-2 weeks after he heals up.

  8. It was hard to buy the story of jumping from 2-stories and hurting both ankles; but jumping from 3-stories (now that would hurt) to save your behind from the police makes more sense.

  9. USC Morning Buzz: there’s a football game in two days. What about the players on the field?

    • The only “Playas” here are Charlie’s Bucketlist, Animo Antie Winkumhs. UCLA foozball owns L.A. (but doesn’t play in LA.) and all the other high “men” of character on this board,

  10. I too have a confession to make. I am actually a bruin fan who likes seeing our team practice on an 80 yard field, travelling across town to our “Stadium” and our incredible 5-7 rose bowl record.

I also want to confess that as a Bruin fan I know that the only time we have been good is when USC is down.

I am leaving this board with my head hanging in shame….while winking at Charlie Buckets, Anno Meekamush, TrojanGag, and all the other super-de-duper cool UCLA dudes who spend more time here than they do on their teams board.
