USC Morning Buzz: Josh Shaw Jumped Off Apartment Balcony After Seeing Police

SHAW

What were the circumstances when Josh Shaw got hurt? A source at the apartment complex in Los Angeles offered details: Shaw got into a heated argument with his girl friend and jumped off her balcony.

Following the argument, Shaw left the apartment. His girl friend left separately. According to a source, the police were called by residents who heard yelling at the apartment. The source said Shaw returned to the apartment just prior to police and when he saw them jumped off the balcony, which caused him to sprain his ankles. This would explain why police were told someone who matched Shaw’s description might be a burglary suspect at the apartment.

  1. Still don’t see Shaw’s reason to perpetrate the “rescue yarn.”

    • Me neither. I don’t see him getting suspended if he tells the truth (and did nothing illegal). He would have just looked a little stupid. Doesn’t make sense.

      • That’s why this is still an ongoing mess – Times claims LAPD forced/broke into the apartment – too young to realize until much much later – there ain’t any woman in the world worth the obsession

    • Shaw didn’t only perpetuate the “rescue yarn”, but he actually had the audacity to contact the school and had them EDIT their original release on the USSC website!!!!….Shaw felt that having him “crawl to the pool” to rescue his nephew was a little too melodramatic……. seriously?…..

  2. wolfman, sometimes, not very often, but SOMETIMES, one has to stand back in utter, unadulterated AWE….your reportage has risen to a whole ‘NOTHER level!!!!

while HH and the Po-lice DITHER, you are out there pounding the pavement, SCOOOPING the TRUTH!!!!

so our HERO was RUNING like a thief from the Po-LICE!!!!

THANK YOU, wolfman, for CONFIRMING what many suspected, but only ONE had the SKILLZ to PROVE!!!!

  3. Jumping off a balcony after a heated argument with his girlfriend, just because he saw the police?…what did he have to gain by doing this?….Still smells fishy, but I’m ready to move on, unless more information comes out which implicates him……..

    • Per the Wolfman’s timeline, my question is: after Shaw left the apartment the first time (via the door, I assume), and then his girlfriend left separately, it says he “returned prior to the police.” When he returned to the apartment, did he break in? Aside from possibly battering the girlfriend (which doesn’t seem to be the case, based on what we’ve heard so far), forcing his way into the apartment seems to be the only possible criminal act here, unless he’s accused of taking something with him when he escaped via the balcony. But no one has accused him of taking anything, from what I’ve seen.

      • And where was her roommate that he allegedly banged, according to one of the previous posters on this blog?

        • Wow, I missed that gossip.

It seems this college football scandal may involve a “scissor-lift” of a different sort…

          • timtrojan • a day ago
The story is that he was banging girlfriend’s roommate and she comes home. He goes out window neighbor sees him and calls the police. He jumps hurts himself and makes his way home. Neighbor describes him to police girlfriend says that sounds like my man. Shaw decides to go with story of saving nephew never thinking how the story would blow up like it did. Another case of the little brain getting a man in trouble.

      • Not taking anything? What about taking that sweet young maiden’s virginity? She is the injured one. No longer will she be able to wear white on her weding day.

    • Sounds right, Bleauz. Something more was involved. Who jumps down three stories for zero reason, aside from some yelling in the apartment, and the arrival of police? Who hires a criminal lawyer to meet with your coach and school over some panicky lie?

I was already bored on Tuesday. Whatever really happened, he didn’t bomb the Boston Marathon or shoot up a club. It’s some teenage silliness.

A few quiet weeks will provide the needed perspective on this situation. People are a long study. Shaw is 80% good–loyal to family, hard-working, a good example, and so on–and he’s 20% flawed. I wish I met that standard, especially at his age.

  4. much FEAR in Shaw, i sense…

perhaps running from racist Sark, Shaw was!

    herh, herh, herh!

STRONG the Clown Force is with the troxans!

    clown on, futher muckers!

    herh, herh, herh!

    • Little-known Wolf blog trivia: “Clown Force” was going to be the name of Bucket’s posse, before the guy posting as Free-Thinker labeled them the “Cadre”.

      • right you are….it is a hallmark of the Cadre to turn insults into lemonade!!

in fact, the names c-Buck, Chucker-Bucker, wolfman, etc all were first used as disparaging remarks that were ADOPTED for ongoing use by the Cadre!!

        thanks for the GUMBALLS, Dummies!!!

this is one secret to the indestructibility of the Cadre, we are like those super-villains who absorb energy….the more bombs you hit them with, the stronger they GET!!!

        #MeetsUnstoppableForce

    • Futher muckers?
We know this swished over the moderator’s heads so the torch has to be passed to Charlie B and his Cadre in hopes that Mr. Duh, who obtained his masters degree in baiting from that institution in Westwood, will get his come-upance via importing the fleas from 1K camels to infest his genitalia.
I am guessing that having an MA in baiting would make him a ……….. N’est-ce pas?

      • I wonder how many people under the age of, say, 30 would know about the Johnny Carson routine you just referenced. It’s strange to think that there may come a time when most people won’t recognize a Carnac joke.

Or this: “Drive to the Slauson cut-off, get out of the car, cut off your slauson, get back in the car.”

  5. Vhat in the vorld is goink ON at zis freakink uniwersity??

Clowns, cowards, racists, heroes, liars….i am zo confused, i am goink to bite somevone in zee freakink NECK!!!

  6. Vulfman, AMAZINK scoopink job!!

You are goink to vin a freakink PULITZER!!

by zee vay, haff you been vorking OUT, Vulfman?

I noticed zee VASHBOARD abs are showink!!

  7. So no remote possibility of any criminal charges. All along we knew what this was about – a girl, not some burglary of any sort. Typically, Wolfie has left out some important facts about this situation which remain unpublished.

Shaw’s been very dumb. USC’s been very dumb. Trolls are ecstatic. Shaw will be back by mid-season if not earlier. I’d be fine if he never played again, but the Trojans can certainly use him, even though he’s not a great cover guy.

    • Yup – guessing his suspension will coincidentally coincide with this recovery from the injury.

      #ClownCollegeStrikesAgain

      • Who cares what you guess. Looking again for validation on a Trojan blog. No guessing about that, Troll.

        #TrollsneedUSClove

          • We really respect your opinions Troll. Can’t you tell, Mr. Bridesmaid U. Good luck on your annual little gutty choke job. Once again, they won’t let you step on your rented field (the one that’s 100 yds long) in January. Why would they? You haven’t won a Rose Bowl in 30 years and are only 5-7 in your entire history. Respect that, Troll Boy.

          • Actually, I’m overjoyed at your tradition of losing and choking on a yearly basis. USC, Stanford and Oregon fans would all like to send you a special little gutty pecan pie this Christmas in appreciation of your yearly bend-over. 46-30. You’ll never catch us.

            #GodsavetheTrolls

          • I really liked this movie though it seems I’m really in the minority. It’s PEEECAN PIIIIII! by the way.

          • they’re ALWAYS angry!

cause we whip them daily like it was part of our job description, and there’s NOTHING they can do about it!!!

i guess that would make me all mad and frustrated too!!!

            (chortle)

            #We’reYourDaddy

          • Didn’t Southern Cal have two of their biggest choke jobs on our field? 13-9 and the Texas Massacre!

          • Then USC came back and won three consecutive Rose Bowls, a game the little gutties can’t even sniff their way into, while USC is an overwhelming 24-9. Pay attention.

    • Well you have to be careful these days.. Cops are shooting black people all over the nation..
Especially over a possible domestic dispute..

      • This was my thought exactly. If the cops were called because of a yelling match between my wife and I, I’d feel perfectly safe opening my door, inviting them in and hopefully settling the matter there. The fact that he ran suggests that a. He was concerned about his future status on the team, or b. It was a conditioned response to dealing with heavy handed authorities before. If “b”, then this is a sad story with a tragic element all its own. If “a”, then Josh just needs to grow up and take his lumps like a man.

    • but why doesn’t he just come out and tell everyone what happened instead of hide behind a lawyer? that would be best for him and the team.

    • There’s the possibility of criminal charges for either burglary or attempted burglary.

      • Dream on. He’ll never be charged with anything. There’s no victim who wants him prosecuted. But…if he’s charged criminally, as you suggest he might be, kick him off immed and for good. Many guys on the team will never fully accept him back anyway. One of his main values was as a leader and he can’t lead anymore.

        • You said “no remote possibility of any criminal charges.” It’s possible. Whether to prosecute or not is up to state not victim. Don’t have all facts yet, but state will be under some pressure to show it’s not treating him differently. SC should cut ties now. Why invite having to deal with the mess again upon his recovery?

          • Handling the situation team-wise is tricky. This is where Sark needs to play things smart or he could splinter the team. So, he can’t just cut a guy like Shaw lose w/o alienating a certain amount of his players. Personally, I think USC will be fine w/o Shaw. Sark has other ramifications to consider. The DA looks at things strictly from an evidentiary standpoint. They don’t file lots of cases where they think a potential defendant is good for it, but can’t beat a reasonable doubt burden. The DA’s office is not in the business of losing. Bad for the resume and for the career. They won’t file w/o witnesses who are willing to talk, regardless of appearances. Shaw didn’t gamble here and has lawyered up with a big-timer. From what I have been told that has not been published, Shaw isn’t a DA target and will never be charged with anything, If I’m wrong, I’ll be the first to beg for mercy from the Trolls.

          • All true but DA has whatever the statute of limitation is on crime alleged to file. Shaw needs to be “cleared.” DA’s hammer is to continue to say is investigation is not closed and that Shaw hasn’t been eliminated as a possible suspect. Cases like this DAs often do what’s called DA diversion. They agree to set the file aside and not open it unless alleged prep gets in trouble for something else within statute of limitation. But that’s not “cleared.”

          • He could volunteer as a lifeguard at the Jonathan Club as part of a cultural exchange program. Now that would be interesting!

          • Shaw will NEVER be cleared in the minds of the Trolls. If the DA decides to take him down, then he’s got real problems.

          • What victim are we talking about? Is there a presumed robbery victim for some reason? If not, then non – violent domestic disputes do not have victims.

          • The charges I’ve heard being contemplated are burglary or attempted burglary. Neither requires a robbery or a theft for that matter.

          • Gotcha. Don’t exactly get how this story bridges the gap to these ‘burglary’ charges but I guess there’s more to the story.

          • Even Scott’s describes what could be either an attempted burglary if balcony was means of ingress, burglary if egress.

  8. An exerpt from Anthony Brown’s interview yesterday with TMZ:

“When I walked in the room he said, ‘You have the f**king guts to walk in here — coward.”

Brown continues, “The way he was talking to me … it was like a slave master talking to his slave.”

According to Brown, Sarkisian never used the N-word or any other racial slur … but feels the overall “tone” was racist.”

  9. TMZ reporting that USC players don’t want Shaw back and that there was nearly a physical confrontation between Shaw and another player asking him to come clean.

Poor Sark, not one game into the season and he’s got this troll lying, Brown calling him a racist and 2 freshman starting on the OL, good luck Sarky.

    • We’ll be fine..we had 4 head coaches last year and people had predicted doom and gloom……..and if the team doesn’t want Shaw back on the team, then so be it…The player calling out Shaw’s BS turned out to be right..if only the USC staff had listened to their gut..I would give them a chance, if I you’re a real fan….

    • My only regret is that today is Friday – you know they all want to begin the game tomorrow and be rid of this as the focus of the new season. It’ll all work out but man what an upset last night at Columbia-SC and it seems WA St. has plenty of ‘O’ and little of ‘D’.

      It’ll all work out

      “..paint it black you devil…”

    • Restauranteur? I knew the guy…NOBODY ever said he was a CLASS ACT….but he knew how to run an establishment…and his banana potato’s au gratin have NEVER BEEN DUPLICATED. The collection of CHARACTERS who frequented the place would make your head spin. You had to walk into a closet….and slide the false back panel to access the secret dining room in the back…There will NEVER be another.
      God Bless Jay!

  10. LAT now piggy-backing off of wolfman’s leg-work: “LAPD now investigation DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CASE”

don’t worry wolfman, YOU still get credit for blowing this caper WIDE OPEN!!!

    #AllScoopsAllTheTime

  11. So basically Josh Shaw is suspended from the team for arguing with his girlfriend and telling Steve Sarkisian a fairytales ? Really ? Because it’s not against the law to jump off of a balcony .

    • Josh Shaw should be suspended for refusing to personally come clean with the team and having the audacity to hire a criminal attorney to express his “remorse”.
