Sarkisian v. Stanford

Former Stanford defensive end Ben Gardner, who was accused by Steve Sarkisian of faking an injury during the Cardinal’s victory over Washington, took a shot at Sarkisian via the Josh Shaw situation on twitter.

  1. So what will the spin be this week by the honks when they eek a win out at home against Memphis?

  2. TOTAL and COMPLETE shaming of trOXans!!!

only a team CERTAIN of VICTORY would unleash such a barrage of emasculating bulletin board material!!!

i haven’t seen this much trash talking since Rocky III !!!

is Shaw going to show up at Siete’s presser and yell “What did you say, Paper Champion? I’ll beat you like a dog, a dog, you fool!”

    • So you are saying USC will beat the living crap out if Stanford the way Rocky did to Clubber Lang?

  3. I’ve heard interviews with Coach Shaw, and he’s very bright. He’s also very well respected, like his namesake at USC.

What Ben Gardner does not explicitly answer is whether or not he was
    really injured.

I ask myself: what would cause Sark to think that injuries were
being faked? Whatever else Sark has shown at USC, he hasn’t publicly displayed paranoia.

I think I’ll reserve judgment until we see what happens with injuries to Stanford players on Saturday.

    • I also don’t think we really played that fast on offense. I know we have the PAC12 record for the most number of plays, but it felt like it took quite a while to snap the ball. The only time i felt them going blitzkrieg was in the red zone for the first TD. I think the number of plays are skewed by the number of 3rd downs we converted and the number of 3rd downs FSU didn’t.

  4. Shaw’s not a Harbaugh a Walsh or a Ralston i.e. someone who feels inferior to USC and acts that they aren’t – it did look a lot like Stanford did indulge in slow down tactics against OR last year and the year before as well.

Having said that if that is the counter to teams using the hurry up offense then good look looking ahead as it is sweeping the country.

Credit Sark and his staff for changing to the hurry up and recruiting the players who want it and understand it rather than doing what AL is doing – asking the NCAA for a ‘clock’ to prevent hurry up being used.
