Pat Haden Fined $25,000 And Steve Sarkisian Reprimanded

The Pac-12 fined USC athletic director Pat Haden $25,000 for his sideline actions Saturday at Stanford. USC coach Steve Sarkisian was also reprimanded.

“The conduct by USC Athletics Director Pat Haden was inappropriate,” said Pac-12 comissioner Larry Scott. “Such actions by an administrator in attempt to influence the officiating, and ultimately the outcome of a contest, will not be tolerated.

“The conduct by both Sarkisian and Haden were in clear violation of our Conference’s Standards of Conduct policy. We appreciate the public apology and recognition of the errors in judgment, as well as Pat Haden’s self-imposed 2-game sideline ban.

“We took this into consideration as we determined the discipline. Nonetheless, the actions fell short of our expectation of our head coaches and athletics directors as role models for our student-athletes and important leaders of our institutions.”

  1. Good, that’s the end of that. And like the Shaw matter it all will be yesterday’s news and forgotten by week’s end.

One aspect of this sideline charade was that it may have thrown off Stanford, because shortly after this delay the Cardinal blew a handoff and SC recovered.

  2. Jon you’re right – one and done – good riddance and learn from it.

I’d say the design of that stadium does not lend itself to helping Stanford – a ‘square box’ rather than a rectangle – high overhanging seating thus the sound has nowhere to go but bouncing back and forth as the Stanford players were asking their fans to pipe down a few times during the game.

  3. HAWR-HAWR!!!!

what’s so funny about this is O’Hadden was probably grousing about all the scandals he had to endure the last few weeks, and then he commits the biggest screw up of them ALL!!!

kudos to Larry Scott for his decisive, SOBER handling of this EMBARRASSING matter!!
