USC Is No. 108 In One Category

USC’s committed 19 penalties in two games, which ties it for 108th in the country in the category of fewest penalties. The Trojan are tied with two other Pac-12 teams (Utah, Washington State).

  1. When it comes to USC football, there’s a cloud behind every silver lining and you can count on Wolf to find it.

      • BTW…. how is Kessler’s life threatening “staph infection”?…….We want CLOSURE, dang it!!!

        • BTW II….where are we with the Shaw and Brown investigations?? will there be criminal charges against Shaw? and i KNOW Southern Cal is investigating the shocking charges of racism against its coach….aren’t they?

i think it’s safe to say we all lamented ANOTHER Universities’ decision to NOT investigate charges against their coach that were deemed shocking…

    • Not necessarily. Excessive penalties does not always amount to bad teams. The Superbowl Champion Seahawks were the most penalized NFL team last year. I’d say we’re in good company.

  2. Sounds like an indictment of PAC-12 refs to me. Why else would 3 Pac-12 teams be in the bottom 5 of 108 college football teams…

  3. Been going to USC games since 1967, can’t remember a year in which it didn’t seem USC got a ton of penalties per game

    • In the last 5 seasons, USC has averaged 59 yards per game. Opponents average was 56 yards.
So far this year, USC’s per game average amount of penalty yards is 81. Opponents have averaged 58 yards.
Take away the 2 facemask penalties by Pelon (poor technique?) and the absolutely absurd late-hit penalty by our kicker and the average drops to 59.
Make what you will with the data gleaned from the past 67 games.

  4. Nothing but a worthless turd. It must suck when the only people that support you on this blog are ruin trolls

  5. 2 games, young players, small sample size, non-story……Thanks for the gumball, Chicken LIttle……

  6. Snore. WSU (0-2) is one of the worst teams in the country and USC (2-0) is one of the best. The Fewest Penalties category is obviously worthless compared to other factors.

    • Don’t worry….after our next home game, Scottie will be all over it like a Five Guys burger…..

  7. A team still does not like to go backwards or have drives killed.

Penalties are an area that should be treated with due respect, and some of them, like Pullard striking Montgomery, should be corrected rather easily

  8. John McKay was death on penalties – he constantly bluntly told each team during spring practice “….no – you make the other team commit the penalty …. make them make the late hit …… make them jump off sides…” He harped on the impact of penalties every time he saw any slide towards them.

      • Believe what you want – McKay was dead hard on the team not committing penalties. He was a hard taskmaster – very demanding and a bit distant but he knew the impact of a foolish mistake on the outcome of a game.

  9. Here we go again…Wolf scouring stats to find the one negative thing to report on. Did you have a bad childhood Wolf? is that what has made you so bitter?
