By The Numbers

USC is 4-0 against Boston College. Pete Carroll coached his last USC game against the Eagles in the Emerald Bowl in 2009.

USC QB Cody Kessler has zero interceptions. The same number as catches for tight end Randall Telfer.

Hopefully Telfer gets a chance tomorrow.

  1. Hey Scott, how many catches does Agholor have? How many pass completions does Kessler have? How many points has the defense given up?

    Oh, excuse me, those are positive stats, and Mr. ‘The Glass is Always Half Empty’ is not interested in that kind of silly stuff.

    • Texas is playing their backup QB, they can’t rush the ball or score any points and their defense is pathetic, so this game should be over by halftime.. if UCLA let’s them hang around by the end of the 3rd quarter, then they could be in huge trouble…..

      • Seems like he might already be the starter at Texas had he taken care of business. Now he’s a walk-on at much-troubled Hawaii which is headed for a new coach because Chow is horrible. Not sure I follow your thinking.

        • I’m thinking being QB at Texas right now would not be good for Wittek’s health – he would take a pounding in sacks. And it’s difficult to look good to pro scouts on losing teams. Maybe Hawaii isn’t much better. But the way Kessler has developed, Wittek made the right choice.

          Agree Texas will be good again as they have one of the best recruiting pipelines.

          • He seems like a great kid. A real football player. I never liked Barkley…seemed a bit entitled to me. Kessler on the other hand seems more down to earth. Maybe it’s a bit different growing up in Bakersfield rather than the OC and Mater Dei type deal.

            On another note, the impromptu mention of the UCLA/Texas game by Trojans on this blog is surprising. Don’t encourage us! Shout out to Bleauz! 🙂

          • It looks like another great weekend for college football!….. Heck, I’m even looking forward to Nebraska coming to play Fresno State tomorrow night…at least Fresno State shouldn’t be too intimidated after getting slammed by Pac-12 teams their first two games….

          • Bleauz = respected by Bruin posters.
            TrojanFan = not so much.
            JackB = rough-around-the-edges truthteller.

          • After all the incessant ucla bragging leading to the season, we’re all looking forward to when the little gutties get through your pre-season cake games, even though Bridesmaid U fans all think you have the toughest slate in the nation.

            Since you don’t believe in out-of-conference choking (and I for sure call the VA and MEM fiascos total choke jobs), I say, let the real games begin! We’re gonna find out just who’s right.

          • And BC are world beaters? Texas may be down this year, but hardly qualifies as a “wimp”. And of course, Fresno State is a top notch crew.

          • Stay on point Proby. Nobody ever said BC or Fresno State were any good. The point is, ucla is very disappointing. USC has looked much better, despite the transition year team. That’s what the college football world thinks, not just me. This was supposed to be your year, not USC’s. USC is already ranked higher. Typical underachieving little gutties. Bridesmaid U. As far as slates go, if you were to play ND, you’d lose as you always do because you can’t beat the Irish and your team this year is no big deal. So consider yourself lucky.

          • I made this point over the summer when Scottie posed a question about Hundley or Kessler. I voted 100%in my comments for kessler and even USC bloggers thought I was nutz. Hes got the intangibles. Kiffin couldnt see it. Sark and coach O can and did.

          • Kessler has surprised me. I really love the way he plays. Never gets rattled. Unspectacular. Cool. Great thrower on the run. Will be interesting to see how he progresses from here. But I’d still take Hundley, who has really been let down by his receivers and is having to carry the little gutties. Hundley is just a beast to bring down and sees running lanes so well.

        • The bigger issue for Wittek is the proposal before the University of Hawaii Board of Directors to kill the football program entirely (or drop to Div 2 )

      • It wasn’t his choice. He didn’t graduate and would have had to set out a year. But, Texas does suck.

  2. There’s more to playing TE than just catching passes, Scottie….you seem to be more worked up about this than Telfer is…..they needed his to block in the Stanford game and he whiffed badly on several plays……he’ll catch a pass when he’s supposed to… and not because of you…..

  3. Bryce Dixon is probably already a better TE than Randall Telfer. Hopefully Dixon will get some more chances.

    • You’re so funny Chuckie – did you have to work hard to develop that wit, or did it come naturally?

      • why thank you, my mother always said i was a talented child.

        however, society never recognized my comedic talents. i was mostly isolated and home schooled, but finally found a venue to hone my skills, to answer your question, over the 15-20 yrs i have been on this blog.

    • Don’t talk about Telfer’s hands like that. You’re not funny.

      And you write and sound like Thaimex. Oh, that’s because you are him.
