The Top 25

ALLEN.BOSTON.COLLEGE

Here’s my ballot for this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll. And I will note who is missing. A team with a victory over Fresno State, who is proving to be a disaster, a victory over a Stanford team that self-destructed and a loss to a Boston College that steamrollered it:

1. Oklahoma
2. Florida State
3. Alabama
4. LSU
5. Oregon
6. Baylor
7. Auburn
8. Texas A&M
9. Mississippi
10. Michigan State
11. South Carolina
12. Georgia
13. Stanford
14. Clemson
15. UCLA
16. Wisconsin
17. Notre Dame
18. Missouri
19. BYU
20. Arizona State
21. Penn State
22. Oklahoma State
23. North Dakota State
24. Kansas State
25. Marshall

  1. Who could possibly disagree with Wolfie’s USC ranking? Heavy favorite USC lost badly to a mediocre BC team and had no Plan B. Duh.

But even had USC won, Wolfie’s lead would have been negative, pissy and focused on making the Trolls gleeful, which is why they live here, regardless of whether the Trojans win or lose.

USC got smoked, plain and simple. QB Tyler Murphy and BC’s OL talent and blocking schemes were so far superior to USC’s that I don’t think any Plan B outside of blocking and tackling better was gonna work. That was always McKay’s Plan B by the way. Fundamentally, USC just wasn’t as sound, nor as tough.

Sure, we should have passed more because we couldn’t run, period. But we still couldn’t stop BC. Once they figured us out and we got tired, it was a mercy killing.

While I firmly believe Wolfie should be replaced on this blog with a better writer who really has some inside knowledge (plan B anyone?) and doesn’t bring along the crappy attitude/agenda baggage, I totally agree with Wolfie that this USC team is not a top 25 outfit.

Poor coaching, poor running attack, poor preparation, lack of respect, too much youth, poor adjustments and poor, spotty talent levels, especially on D.

We’ve just seen the blueprint on how to demolish USC. Things are never as dark as they seem. Until you turn the lights on.

  2. Pendergast was not the best recruiter, but he was a legit Defensive Coordinator.. Sark should have never let him go
