USC Drops To No. 17 In AP Poll

While I was flying back from Boston, the AP poll came out and USC dropped to No. 17, eight spots lower than last week.

    • But Scottie’s poll was more correct in that regard.
The Trojans are a VERY young team, while BC had 15 roster players who were graduate students, meaning at least in their 4th or so year of playing college level football.
That experience counts for much in the ways of the polls.
Also, USC had about 53-55 players available to play, while BC had somewhere around 80-85 players, meaning they had more opportunity to get some rest between plays.
The deck is stacked against the Trojans this season, just like the previous 3-4 seasons. A 9 or 10-win season would be heroic.

      • I agree with all your comments. In many ways we are at the point of largest effect from the sanctions, with gradual improvement over the next couple years. The good news is these young, talented players are getting valuable experience now and will be even better in two years.

My point was Scottie’s view was different than all the other AP voters. Who’s right? We all know Scottie’s propensity to submit outliers in his ballot so my vote is on the other AP voters.

  1. USC will continue to have troubles with Spread offenses, run or pass spread will hurt the defense until USC gets Scholarship numbers back up..
Defense was exhausted and the offense didn’t help them get any rest
